Hello all,

Before I made the switch to instabill I had my own order form set up and was manually keying in the info but didn't change it right away however and order came in and went to instabill to key in the info went through a month later have someone contacting me saying that the card was stolen etc.

I traced the ip# back to cable and wireless filled out one of their tickets but when can be done anything?

Also he e-mailed me saying this

shut up, you can try your bs with someone who doesn't
know any better, i've been doing this too long to fall
for little admins trying to scare someone cause they
lost money, but.. lets see, lets break this down...
you have the ip of my wingate proxy... that's
connected to from a rooted edu... on which i remove
all logs, but assuming you can actually find a place
where i ****ed up and left a log, lets say you have my
ip... wait, that's not my ip... it's the ip of the
proxy i use before i telnet in... hmm, ok, so you get
my ip from THAT proxy... so you call the isp... uh oh,
the account isn't legit... but you have the phone
number that dials up... so you reverse lookup the
number and get an address... you'll be getting on my
block, but then when you get to the house, the person
that lives there doesn't even have a computer... their
line has been jacked... oh lord, isn't this getting
annoying ? so now you gotta find out where their line
was spliced... hmm could be in the route box, could be
on the pole, could be on their grey box at the
physical house, could be sliced mid line somewhere...
uh oh, i hope it's not setup on a loop and someone is
meeting on it to dial in..... psssssssshhhhhh
whatever. i've been rootin' ****ing boxes like yours
for 4 years, if you think i'd be stupid enuff to allow
myself to be caught for carding some domain, keep
dreaming... so take your bs threat and stick it, cause
i promise nothing will come of this, and ohhhh it
pisses ya off ;x haha w0rd, peace -dayz

Maybe a little note to the FBI wouldn't hurt...

Seconded. Forwarding all the info you've got (logs, receipts, everything) to the FBI may help in some way and they should be able to advise you as to what you can do.

From his delightful prose, this guy also gives himself away as a wire-head, not a programmer. Clowns like this are easy to catch, if old Uncle takes an interest.

If he used the card for hosting a website, there is nothing you can do but write it off.

BUT you must *try* and file a case against him with the higher authorities (not your local authorities) so that should he be caught one day, they have more evidence to prosecute him on.

try? doubt whether you will find anybody interested.

Here's where you find 'em...

I love the way they dress, by the way.

thanks for your replies its not really the point as I didn't really lose any money gave the real credit card holder a refund no way they are going to get it back from networksolutions but the point is this is not the first time this person has done this and it will not be his last

What a fine example of a complete jackass. Overall, report 'em, and never read that message again unless you have to. It will just annoy you. Let's just all hope he gets hit by a bus tomorrow.

I'm surprised at you, Chicken. That was extremely uncharitable... to the bus.

I agree with chicken, but think of the ideas this guy has. Look at the precautions he has taken in executing the thing. Just think of the knowledge this guy has on how to Hijack a telephone line withot the owners knowing?

I agree this is wrong, but think of the beauty with which he has executed the whole thing. :)

What I find beautiful is the prospect of his spending around 5-10 years in the can when he gets caught.

Sorry, but there is a certain segment of the population which I feel the rest of us can do without. It isn't that I champion the death penalty for wire tapping, heh. I'm not all that religious, but I do believe in karma. And fast buses :)

Actually, what I meant was, getting slime like that all over a perfectly nice bus was an unkindness to motor vehicles...

What's his e-mail address?

hello all,

his e-mail is emaildayz@yahoo.com

C&w told me the following

You need to report this to your local authorities and
have them get a subpoena for user information for that
IP. Please make sure the subpoena has the source IP,
date, time and time zone. Once they have a subpoena
they can send it to:

Cable & Wireless Legal Department
8219 Leesburg Pike
Vienna, VA. 22182
Robert Bryan 703/760-7924
Fax: 703/760-3746

think i will just let it go maybe someone else that this happens to in the future will follow through but don't think its worth the time right now

LOL

He's no wire head. thats general hacker/cracker/jackass knowledge.
ANYBODY can do what he did. Yes I have a past yes I was a hacker/cracker and anything in between..... Well hey quit looking @ me like that! I've only been on the net for 10 years we all go through those stages...... don't we? :)

I also happen to work on telephone systems. Splicing a wire is no big deal and is quite easy.

You can either do it @ their box, @ their pole, or mid line as he meantioned. However mid-line is very iffy in what # you'll get. Seing as he said neighbor down the street who doesn't have a computer that leads me to believe he spliced it at the pole.

a Simple toner placed on the neighbors line then you just climb the poles and find the tone, or you just walk house to house until you pick the tone up @ their phone box. I'm sure the FBI wouldn't mind doing that :).

I could do what he did no problem in no time. Standard tools, standard phone tech knowledge.

If you want to get fancy you crack the phone system controllers or go break open a terminal and change the wires around or splice them. but again, EASY to tone out and trace.

Hardest way would be to crack the central system and redirect the # to the approiate wire pair but then again thats fairly complex considering in older systems their are thousands of pairs of wires :)

(which down here finally went full digital thus relay stations are gone and new slic systems installed)

I use real time authorisation from Worldpay.com

I know if the card has bounced before the hosting account is set up (and it does happen sometimes).

The good thing about the web hosting business is that you aren't posting a product out to someone so if it turns out to be a fraud you just delete the account.
I know that doesn't help with domain name registrations but losses from hosting accounts that bounce are very small indeed.

Daniel is right, this guy hasn't done anything special .. heck we used to hack the phone company in order to route our call via their internal sys to get free long distance (to log into BBS's afcorse ;) no internet back then), haaa .. those where the days ... but then again, 2 of the group served 6 months for the joke :(

If the FBI really wants, they can catch this bad boy in 1 day

Based on the kids email, (s)he's probably only a teenager (older, more experienced peops would probably just ignore you if they truely believe that they have completely outfoxed you). He's probably bluffing, found some card #'s on a site or something and thought he'd give them a try.
