You have a new datacenter? Where? What about the old one? I am a bit confused. This is a limited time special to launch our new state of the art datacenter.

The Planet / ServerMatrix Announces the launch of another new datacenter. The new datacenter is located at 400 S. Akard in Downtown Dallas. This datacenter is 22,000 square feet and will house 12,000 to 15,000 servers. This is a Tier 1 facility with raised floor, 12 - 30 tons Data Aire HVACS, Dry Pipe Fire Suppression System, VESDA, 500KVA UPS Units, and a 1.5 Megawatt diesel generator. The datacenter is located on the 3rd floor of Carrier Center Dallas (old Federal Reserve Building). We brought in our own OC192 SONET Ring and the bandwidth will be exactly like our current network. It will house ServerMatrix and Total Control only. It will be staffed onsite with over 50 employees. Dell is the server of choice in the new facility. We will have webcams and pics up on Monday. This datacenter went live today with the first few customers with the "official launch" on Monday the 17th.

This is in addition to the other datacenters we have.

Does this mean that the SM boxes will now be Dell in addiition to the Total Control boxes?

I am expecting a linux box with cpanel. How good is that if you offer free setup and free control panel as well.

Free cPanel sounds good to me... :)

Inventory for this special is running low.

Not sure what kind of special this is - no cpanel, no free memory upgrade, no free hard drive upgrade.

Free setup? what's that.

I'm supposed to order 3 servers for my clients this week and this does not even come close to it. Didn't SM servers come with more IP addresses?

Seems like servermatrix is trying to be like rackshack and I'm trying to cancel the server I have with them.

To make matters worse, theplanet.com has jacked up the price of their servers. You used to be able to get something for about $200/month, now the cheapest is $299 or $249.

This nickel/diming business is getting retarded.

Below is the config from server matrix. Used to be able to get better from theplanet.com without all these bogus addons. Come on, ServerMatrix/ThePlanet/Whatever you want to call yourselves these days.

This ain't no 5-star restaurant - A La Carte sucks my a5S!!

Of course SM has to get something out of this. If you really expect them to give you free setup, along with free memory upgrade, and free harddrive... Logically, it will never happen.

testuser
05-20-2004, 04:40 PM
I'm not expecting all 3 - all I'm asking for one out of those. Think about it - offers seems to be a lot more tempting when you include something people can use over the long haul - like RS has setup for $1 but include additional RAM, etc.

Just my opinion

When will you offer the free second drive again? I'm holding back on two new servers I need.

I'm also waiting for free 2nd HD with free setup :)

brav0

I don't mind paying the $99 setup, the free second drive is what makes a difference in price.

And don't look at it as a difference of $40/mo. It's $480/yr and if you multiply by several servers it works out to a very respectable amount.

YourHost

We are getting very, very close to a free harddrive offer.

Keep an eye on the website..... hint.. hint..

TFArchive

free 200GB drive? hehe j/k

Maybe SM should have a HD sale, drop $20-$30 a month off extra drives for any server and you would probably get tonnes of sales.

I knew you'd come through! I just placed my order. I also like the price reduction, $109/mo is an excellent price. Even with the $199 setup fee, will save me $140 over one year and $620 over 3 years.

Awesome offer, I went to order but it looks like the deal's over. Is it still good or do you have a new offer now?

We were going to try out a CP box with SM which is where we have our Windows servers. We spent a good amount of time going over the deal with them on Friday, placed the order Friday afternoon and they said "sorry, deal is over" !???? Never gave us an indication that their inventory was "low" or that the special was almost over. What a waste of time. Not a nice way to play. We'll stick to our own vault.
