View Full Version : Starting to get depressed - paypal

After having experienced the very quick responses from the MCHost support staff, I'm now having a totally different experience with Paypal. I'm eager to get started with my hosting company but can't activate the membership before a 4-digit number appears in the ($1) paypal/visa transaction registered at my bank. The transaction has been registered my bank but not paypals 4-digit number appears there and they know nothing about paypal. No number has arrived in the mail. Where did you get it from? The Danish bank here has never heard about paypal. I know that many people in the US use paypal, but what about their customer support? Is this just a single incident or are customers generally experiencing this kind (lack) off service from them?

I should have mentioned that I have send two emails to their customer support - but has not gotten any answer from them. They could as least answer or give some kind of sign telling that they know that I live and that they will come back to it.

Well - maybe I should do that :) - I didn't think about that because I live in Denmark.

I have always had excellent support from PayPal.

It seems that many customer service "issues" come from customers that can't understand directions.

Regardless of whether a customer can or can't understand directions it's appropriate to answer their enquiries. Customer service really change attitude (!!). I have mailed two kind emails to them - no arguing - no angry words - just asked for help - but no answers from them at all. It could be a fault on their side - if not it just tells something about the quality and kindness of their customer service.

Regarding don't understanding their directions - their membership confirmation number couldn't be found where it should be - that's the problem - if it could, then there would be no problem. - I won't respond to more negative emails. I'm not here to argue. I'm not negative. I just have a problem with a company I know nothing about and would like to hear opinions from other customers and people whom have dealt with this company. We always prefer to do business with honest companies serving their customers the way that they should. If I experience something suspicious about a company I'll always ask other customers and people to ensure that I deals with a reliable company. That's called good old common sense :)

Paypal do not answer very quickly, but they always do, and with polite replies. ( For me at least )

I had to wait until I had a statement from my credit card company before I could see the 4 digit codes.

You just have to wait, sorry.

hmm, they must've changed something in their setup process since I signed on over a year ago...used to be, they would make two tiny deposits into your bank account, and all you had to do was tell them what the exact amounts were, and you *presto* you now have a verified bank account.

So sorry, I can't help out with this particular issue. :( I do know their email support can be pretty much impossible. Calling them is far better (if you can find their 800 #...I can't seem to find it anymore). I once had a problem with a customer that paid through them, and a quick phone call to PayPal got it resolved easily, but it took me a while to dig around and actually locate that number to call!

If I was smart I would have written it down!

Please feel free to contact me. I will try to have our ops team assist on this.

As an FYI, you can get the confirmation code from the credit card company before the statement by calling them. Please bear in mind that some companies do not like this, so I am not recommending placing a call...just giving a suggestion.

I received their confirmation email nov. 12 and has thus waited for 15 days now. The credit cart bank send me a letter showing the visa transaction - but no paypal membership confirmation number appeared there. Then I visited the bank one more time two days ago and as the paypal number still didn't appear there I mailed paypals customer service once again. I hope I'll receive some answers from them soon. Otherwise I'll just stick to revecom.

Hi Demon,

Re. my reply to the other posting - I've already talked with a bank accountant and he looked in their computer system to see if he could find the 4-digit number, but it isn't there. Thank you for helping :)

Everyone talking about McHost. I probably should have signed up with them, but I found a cheaper host. (host is having some problems currently, go figure.)

Anyways, I just wanted to be the 10,000th post in this forum, I need a pickmeup after the day I had.

Cheers :)

I had the exact same problem John and I'm from Denmark as well. My girlfriend in the same bank as I use and she has researched this. At least with Danish banks that 4 digit Paypal number isn't listed.

I tried to get help from paypaldamon as well without luck but I finally managed to get my card approved after scanning in my card and my bank statement listing the 1 $ transaction. You might try that instead.

Tak for det GAMport - så er jeg sikkert ikke helt tosset ;) (then I'm probably not totally crazy). I don't understand what you mean by scanning in my card and my bank statement listing for the 1 $ listing.." - as the problem is that it is not attached to this $ 1 listing in my bank - one of the banks employes tried to search for it and its not there (unibank).

- - -

Paypaldamon did you notice that? - It seems as if Paypal may have a problem with some banks here in Denmark.

I scanned my credit card and mailed it (you understood that part I guess) but I also waited until I got my bank statement listing all transactions (both credit cards and regular fees) and then scanned that in as well.

Just private message me if you want me to explain it further :)

No - I understand it. Thanks for your help:) - It would just be good if this wasn't necessary. Paypal should be able to see on their side that the $1 transactions happened successfully so I'll wait a few more days and hopefully they'll mail me the number (?)

whuzzah?

Maybe I missed something, but the idea is that the 4 digit number is supposed to show up on your CC statement. When your CC company mails that to you, you read it, see the four digit number, then use that to verify you account. E-mailing the number to you won't verify your card very well I would imagine. (You know's if it's yours or not)

Hello Greg,
I'm not sure what this CC company is?? - I got my credit card through my ordinary bank and statements from them with the initial $1 paypal payment has been mailed to me - no 4-digit numer appears anywhere I think Paypal has a problem with banks in Denmark. Paypal is not known by so many over here.

sorry CC means credit card :) My shorthand

Ok I get it now then. You bank's not printing the usual statement description that should that shows the 4 digit number. That's odd of them...

Yes, you're right. I don't know the banks procedures, whether they are removing it or what happens.

Thanks for the address and phonenumber!

Hi John,

I'm Danish too, and we activated our PayPal membership approximately 2 years ago.

I did give us similar problems to yours - namely that the Danish banks do not know the PayPal system. However the secret 4-digit number is equally available to the Danish banks as to banks in other parts of the world - it may however not be available to your local bank department - and so you should call the national credit card handling department of your bank.

What bank do you use?

By the way - have you considered how you're going to transfer funds from your PayPal account to your normal bank account?

Hi Jens,
Thanks for that information! :stickout Then I'll call the mentioned department tomorrow to get the number from them.

What bank do you use?

I use Unibank.

have you considered how you're going to transfer funds from your PayPal account to your normal bank account?

No, but I think Paypal require that foreigners open an american bank account - how are you doing it?

Okay, we use Den Danske Bank - so the procedures may be different for Unibank (but call them and find out) :-)

Well, either an american bank account - or a bank account in one of the supported European countries (for example Holland).

We stopped using PayPal when they stopped supporting transfers to Danish bank accounts.
