Hi, I am currently using a host that uses FreeVSD. Therefore my account is like a dedicated, but not.

My question, are you allowed to install your own control panel on such an account? Or more importantly is it possible?

Any insight would be great!

I would suggest you ask the hosting company, but there is no technical reason why you can't run a control panel inside a virtual server.

The best way would probably be to have it built into the skel - this way it could run as real "root" and modify things that "admin" does not have the ability to change, however running as admin would be fine.

You might have to change the userid that Apache runs under in order to affect files that you need to change.

Ask your hosting company though.

What control panel are you talking about? Webmin does install on Freevsd. As for a program like plesk, I would not hold my breath on that. First off you could not use the rpm version because you do not have it. Also some programs tend not to work with freevsd. It also uses some stuff that Freevsd does not provide. Would it be possible, I think overall with some editing you could, but it might not work correctly.
