Hi everyone, my friend is having trouble with his PC, and I'm helping him out, by posting this topic - hope he gets some help, thanks!
This is what he says:

When I choose "shutdown" it closes Win98 but it doesn't shut down the power automaticly. So I have to switch it off at the back manually. When Win98 is loading, sometimes it just stops so I have to reboot my PC. Sometimes also at startup, I get the message "no primary or secondary disk found" Hmm, my disks are still inside and connected. A reboot helps. So the weirdest things happen.

Thanks for helping,

- Shawn

Two things might be causing this:

You might have bios configured wrong

There may be a loose connection somewhere in you PC

It sounds as if you don't have APM enabled. I can't remember how you enable it, I think its under control panel somewhere.

What year is the PC? Is the power supply AT or ATX? Note: automatic power shutdown will only happen on ATX power supply. If it's ATX and it won't do the autmoatic power shut down, then check your BIOS ...

cheers,

Hey guys, my friend gave me this message to post:

Fact is that I've got the problem since I upgraded from Win98 to Win98 SE. And yes, I've got ATX. It worked before with Win98. Can you ask where I in my BIOS I can check those settings?

If you could help him out, we'd appreciate it! ;)
