netsolutions 11-26-2001, 02:04 AM Science? Who needs science? And what's all this new talk I hear about the earth revolving around the Sun?
Fremont Servers 11-26-2001, 02:05 AM If it doesn't happy today, then it will happen in the future.
How can you ban it forever.

mahinder 11-26-2001, 08:15 AM human cloning is not a good idea but any way you can not explain this to scientist. like nuclear bomb was not good for human cloning is also not good.

Actually, this sounds like they don't need men anymore :bawling:
akashik 11-28-2001, 01:13 AM oh I can think of a few reasons to keep women around. After all someone has to do the thinking for us men :D Lord knows we have a bit of trouble doing it on our own ... It's good to have the "right way of doing things" explained to you

There was a discovery earlier in the year allowing the fertilisation of eggs without sperm. I forget the details.
cbaker17 11-28-2001, 03:36 AM If you ever have trouble convincing someone that cloning is bad, just tell them to imagine more then one of me running around. SHould do the trick..

ShellBounder 11-28-2001, 10:06 AM So much for George Bush on stem cell research...
Human cloning and abortion, IMO, go hand in hand. Usually, people in favor of one are in favor of the other as well, and vice versa.
I personally disagree with the idea of human cloning (and abortion, I must add). The world today is based on a large gray morals and ethics area and nobody is willing to draw the line. Yes, I know I may get some hear for this, but in a feel-good society, anything this feels okay is right. Someone has to draw the line, and right now, that someone is our President with the help of Congress.
Just a thought.
I got a kick out of this one..
"Another organization, Clonaid, moved its research into human cloning outside of the United States after being investigated by the federal government.
Clonaid was founded by members of a religion called the Raelian movement, which believes extraterrestrial scientists created life on Earth and that cloning is a way of achieving eternal life. "
It's likely to happen sooner or later, if it hasn't already behind closed doors. Heck, if you had the capability and a big idea i'm sure that you'd be bored with the sheep by now. I'm waiting for the news announcement of introducing the first human clone incident.

I'm actually against abortion, but human cloning and stem cell research doesn't scare me. To me there are two major differences between the two - abortion deals with the faetus, whereas stem cell research deals with the embryo, and abortion is often (not always) needless, whereas cloning and stem cell research have a worthwhile purpose in mind.
There are some conditions, of course, and they are that research is conducted responsibly and at the right pace. It's certainly not appropriate to be toying with things beyond our grasp at this stage, with results such as deformed humans and similar.
