Greetings everyone,

Boy, did I miss you all people. Unfortunately the last 3-4 weeks have been so extremely busy that I could not devote any time to WHT.

I come back with a question. So it happened that I have three web traffic statistical programs available to me: Webalizer, AwStats and Urchin. I have naturally been following and analyzing each on a continuous basis. But which one is considered the most accurate?

Best,

I prefer AwStats.

Not sure which is the most accurate but I have been using AwStats also.

I've been always making my decision based on Webalizer (results are similar to AwStats), but Urchin numbers are about 30-40% higher than of Webalizer and AwStats. And they are supposed to be very good, so that's what confuses me.

I like Urchin, but it uses 50mb per domain of mine, which really ticks me off, so I had it removed. Instead, I use Awstats which does most of the things I want.

Urchin is too hardcore and Webalizer is too bland. I like AWStats, it's right in the middle there.

I think the torch goes to Awstats for this one.

AwStats is my choice. However URCHIN is installed on my servers and so is webalizer....

Urchin presents excellent stats, should you be able to afford them. I've always liked Awstats.

I personally use all three. All are pretty accurate, with my guess being that Urchin is the most accurate of the three, however I can't say for sure. It would be a pain to compare log files by hand to the stats that each are spitting out.

As far as what to use, that depends totally on what you want. Webalizer is the most basic of the three in what it offers and doesn't use much in terms of resources at all. It is easy to customize the output on it as well.

AWStats, as mentioned, is middle of the road and seems to be the most requested stats program.

Urchin has all the bells and whistles. I was blown away when I first saw it.
