Is this normal?
You add a domain to host, they add user accounts. user@hosteddomain is fine but user@mainRaQdomain is bounced.
Is this just standard ops for RaQ's or have I misplaced something?
Thanks

When you set it up, did you put hosteddomain and mainRaQdomain under Email Server Aliases? If not, that could lead to your first problem...

When I add a domain (www.blah.com) I put in the site config under Mail server alias: blah.com and mail.blah.com
When you add a domain www.blah.com automatically gets added to the email server aliases for the main site admin.
But user@blah.com can get email fine but user@maindomain can't, it's aggravation.

I'm not sure what you are doing, or trying to do, but I get the feeling you either aren't setting up the sites correctly or aren't putting some small thing where it should be put.
What model is this (RaQ3 or 4), and are you running DNS on the machine itself?

It's a Raq 4i
Doing DNS on it, yes
I'm just wondering if it's normal for a user added in a domain to not be able to get mail with user@the main domain.
When I setup each domain I put mail.<domain> as the MX for that domain and the control panel automatically puts www.<domain> in the main mail server's "recieve mail for these domains" entry. (or is the entry called "mail server aliases").
They can recieve mail just fine at user@<newdomain> just seems to me like they oughta be able to get email to user@<main domain> too.
Thanks

You mean:
create user 'user1' at domain1.com.
Now the user should be able to read mail from
user1@onedomain.com and
user1@mainraqdomain.com
Doesn't work on mine as well and
user1@mainraqdomain.com is not added to the mail virtusertable which is where email alias/accounts are stored.
Therefore I think it is by design it doesn't work that way.

That seems to be the case, it's not really a big deal just seemed like it oughta work the other way.

Reading this, it seems that noone here understands that the main domain for a raq is a site as well(home instead of siteXX, but still a site). Just as 2 sites on the RAQ won't get e-mail for each other, a site and the primary site don't allow e-mail to move over either. That is why you can alias things like admin@newsite.tld when admin is an account on the main site.

Ok, to get what you want, check a few things. For the maindomain, be sure in web alias you have maindomain.com entered. Make sure you haven't set up any users on maindomain with a catch-all, as this will prevent this from working. If both of these are correct, and your DNS is correct (which it seems to be, or at least it doesn't seem to be overly wrong from what you posted), then mail sent to user@maindomain.com should land in user@otherdomain.com's account.
