I just wanted to clear up a few things regarding this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=2693

First, what Splesh00 needed was beyond the scope of what I feel any host could/would offer. I may have been wrong, but trying to move 82 domains anywhere for $300 seems like a long shot at best. He didn't mention how much he had for the next month, but I gathered that it *might* not be much considering he only had $300 to start with (no offense to you Splesh).

I took this to be more of an emergency situation than it might have been. Anyway, at $3.67/domain it surely was nice to see a few people like Daniel Pearson (DanielP) and Michael Weinstein (WeinBar) willing to try to help out, even with the small $$$ amount. I do not however, understand Michael's criticism of kosmo for offering to help as well.

Regarding Ed French's (alchiba) comment: "Yes, why not? And since the moderators now appear to be acting as business brokers, let's throw out the rule book and all sense of professional decorum as well. I'm very disappointed."

I'm sorry that Ed French (alchiba) was so disappointed and I didn't mean to come off sounding like I was trying to broker anything. I do talk to some of you on ICQ and by email. WAR happened to mention that he was looking to possibly find someone willing to take over a server he was leasing for around $99/mo for the next three months. Jim Donahew (JimDonahew) suggested a RaQ3. WAR's server is a RaQ3. Can you see why it hit me that these two should talk?

It is very hard for me to recommend one of the hosts here over another as you are all very good. Sometimes I know that one of you offers something that would fit perfectly with what the person needs. If this is the case, I will let the person know.

Anyway, after my post there seemed to be ads more than offers to help, which is why I locked the thread. I may have been wrong in allowing the original offers, but I truly thought they were offers to help this person out by a few of you that post here regularly, and I allowed it. Maybe I screwed up, and if you feel this way, I apologize.

chicken .. don't let it bother you too much

Ed .. well, I am disapointed with your post instead, I'm not kissing anybody's rear here, I have no need to, I just don't see anybody acting like business brokers, if you can connect 2 prople that can help each other .. well .. I say go for it, I can understand and support Weinbar's post, indeed that was an ad, but yours made no sence.

Peace

Now for you guys that Advertise there ... well, we all know the rules, so I have nothing else to say to you guys.

I just want to go on the record as saying that I was not criticizing kosmo. I was just wondering why you were allowing ads in that forum.

I was previously repromanded from doing that before when I first started posting here, yet when I saw it happening, I just wanted to point out that you can recommend other services, but shouldn't be recommending your own.

That's all... like to keep my name clean!

I forgot to mention:

When I said "We are here to help you" I wasn't advertising. I asked Spesh the question so that we could help heim, with we being the forum.

Just wanted to say my peace. Thanks for listening

Ahhh, see I read it a different way (as Annette said). No problems, no worries. Splesh didn't have his email address available and this causes problems as well. Even if you wanted to help (either for charity's sake or for a biz angle), you couldn't contact him due to this.

Anywhoooo, I just wanted to explain and thank you all for reading...

I'm glad this matter has been resolved in a timely manner.

Everyone, please understand that as I said in the announcement, each moderator will have a slightly different interpretations of the rules, and some of the posts in the last week are greying the lines quite dramatically. Thus, WHT has a policy of backing each moderator's stance unless otherwise withdrawn. Moderators will use their own judgement, and we will stand by it.

You are quite free to discuss decisions et. al. in this forum if you find something extremely debatable, or contact the appropriate mod if necessary.

Thanks everyone.

You guys are great. It's much better to clear the air this way than to let things fester and eventually get out of control.

Ok, ok! I'll admit to being a little cranky when I made that post, but since the Yankees lost last night I'm in a much better frame of mind. What I saw as a "feeding frenzy" may have been misinterpreted. I now understand that there were some off-line discussions in addition to what was written in the thread.

To set the record straight, I bear no ill will toward anyone here including those who may feel were the targets of what they consider criticism or scorn. Neither was intended. Thanks, Chicken, for offering up the clarification. It wasn't required, but I'm glad you shared it.

So, as they say at Shea Stadium: "Fuhgeddaboutit!"

Okay?
