Or what? mdrussell 11-25-2001, 06:12 AM Internet advertising 'get's your name out', but it is debateable on whether it is effective. Synergy 11-25-2001, 05:00 PM Advertising In magazines help the best.... Take a look at the PC WORLD $69,000 per page per issue. Frosty 11-25-2001, 06:04 PM Synergy, Are you for real....that sucks! $69,000 for a one page ad in that blasted magazine. I know one webhost that`s new and they have a small ad in the back but they don`t pay a fraction of that. :bawling:  netsolutions 11-25-2001, 06:06 PM Does anybody know any rates for advertising in Web Hosting Magazine? Pilgrim 11-25-2001, 06:26 PM Just imagine for a moment that you could pay the 69.000 The add gets printed. You get a lot of new customers. Can you handle that? Can you keep providing everybody with the same service and response time you do now? Growth is good. Explosive growth will kill your company Synergy 11-25-2001, 07:13 PM Well the price was from Ziff Davis Media. This is from PC MAG: :::WEBHOSTING COMPANIES::: 1/8 AD::: TopHosting 1/4 AD::: BlueGenesis FatCow 1/2 AD::: NetNation HostWay BlueGenesis AITCOM INNERHOST FULL PAGE AD::: DataPeer APlus ValueWeb They don't pay thousands for nothing. This magazine has about 1,000,000 + subscribers :) One Web 11-25-2001, 07:45 PM Originally posted by netsolutions Does anybody know any rates for advertising in Web Hosting Magazine? $6,000 per page per issue Frosty 11-25-2001, 08:28 PM That PC WORLD is a rip off then. You might as well advertise in T.V.....even a 30 second commercial is only like $10,000 and that runs for couple months. I wonder how many customers the hosts advertsing in that magazine get per month....what do you guess? One Web 11-25-2001, 08:33 PM what channel will that ad for $10,00 be? I really dont think that will be true Frosty 11-25-2001, 08:41 PM My mother advertised her diabetic home based business "Express Medical Supply" on TNN (i think it was that chanel, not sure at all). But yes it IS correct. It cost $10,000 dollars (i`ll have to ask her how long it ran again) but it only aired in Ohio and three other states...i forget which. I have a copy of the commercail on tape and went with her when they put the ad together. It`s not the best looking T.V commercial though. She`s having a new and better one thrown together for next time. :stickout WebHostin 11-25-2001, 09:11 PM Hey, I worked for a host that did a 1/4 page add in the back of PC World and it stunnkkkk!! Then after calling the Rep up and telling how much it stunk they decided to call every other day for months and ask if we wanted to run more adds! They go through sales reps like nothing! We had an interesting responce... 1 reseller who put like 25 accounts on and then bolted cause some host had hosting 2 dollars cheaper per month. Lets just say he was in business for another month or two of constant downtimes. -- Brad Frosty 11-25-2001, 09:37 PM Cool so you had one of those small adds in the back of that PC WORLD rip off mag? Why did it suck so bad? Did the host not get many signups...just that one paranoid reseller? :D netsolutions 11-25-2001, 09:49 PM Just going back to the original question for a second. Word of mouth is the best type of advertising you can have. Don't focus all your energy on advertising, make your current clients happy and they will get you clients. Trust me Ambex Net 11-25-2001, 10:27 PM Originally posted by netsolutions Don't focus all your energy on advertising, make your current clients happy and they will get you clients. Trust me What if we have no current customers yet o.0. That's why I'm asking because I just started a bit ago and I need to get the word out about my site so I can get some customers. One Web 11-25-2001, 10:34 PM Well when I started I just listed myself with HostSearch.com, WebHostDir.com, and TopHost.com. By my first month I already had almost 100 customers. The reason my is because I was dumb enough to offer hosting for only $50 per year. I hope you are not offering that. But this will show you that a lot of people do come from those hosting directory... netsolutions 11-25-2001, 10:34 PM What I did when I started was went around to local business and stuff and put out flyers. If you go into a business that doesn't have a web site and say you can get them on the web for an initial $2000 and then $20 a month or whatever, there's a good chance you'll get the client sqposter 11-28-2001, 04:23 PM Originally posted by Frosty That PC WORLD is a rip off then. I wonder how many customers the hosts advertsing in that magazine get per month....what do you guess? I don't mean to be rude. I would like to define a bit about what your talking about. As an investor and active participant, I own 2 tv shows. I had to buy lease time on cable in the NY NJ CT area. We also had to resell the air time to advertisers. $10000 would buy you 30 minutes of air time covering about 30 million cable boxes ( +- 5 million ) at 1 am weeknight at 7 pm ( if your lucky ) it would buy you 6 million cable boxes. this is an average example below Now $10,000 could buy you, TNN advertising in the NJ NY CT area from 6 pm to 11 pm about 100 spots ( $100 per 30 seconds ) over a week. If you do the buy just TNN random 12am to 11:59 pm the rate would drop to $50 per 30 seconds. now with the cable company you could do a Run Of Network for about $ 22 per 30 seconds ( +- $3 ) With the shows ( both music based ) we were targeting 16 to 34 year old males ( we broadcasted at 1 am ) and sold advertising to music labels, club promoters and clothing lines. Product placement laws were to hellish for us understand so we are still staying away from it. If you need help buying air time, PM me and I can explain it better. -Sqposter - Michael Frosty 11-28-2001, 04:44 PM The commercial was not advertised on TNN (thought it was but it was too expensive). My mom says it was on some cable station and only aired in the Ohio state and lasted a month and the fee was $10,000.....commercial was 30 seconds. And that`s all i know...why is that not good price? I know nothing about this stuff as it`s mom`s doing darn it. sqposter 11-28-2001, 05:39 PM Originally posted by Frosty The commercial was not advertised on TNN (thought it was but it was too expensive). I have infact started negociation with the cable companies in my area (NY NJ CT ) to do commercials. I'm hoping to hit about 22 million boxes ( 3 percent of them active on the channels I'm looking to use ) from 5 pm to 11 pm 1 - 30 second ad per hour ( placed by the cable company ) monday to wednesday and friday. Since the buy I'm doing is small ( 6 ads per day and with 14 different cable companies ) my average rate right now is about $ 16. I'm working on reducing that to about $11. -Sqposter |
