We'll i got the hardware and software part down for actuall hosting syince i'm a unix admin for another comapny but what do i need to do to get started. I need a business license i'm sure but what else.
Also what do you guys use for billing and and for keeping track of your clients. I'm used to using hawki but are their any better choises?

Not all this stuff is required, definatley write a business plan though.
I have a server but I need someone to administer it lol - waiting for my linux book :).

All of the above is true - make sure you have a layer who knows about the Internet. You should also have a good accoutant especially if dealing on an International basis.
The backend behind the website and the support system can only be perfected when you have clients using your service but before this think about how everything interacts before commencing hosting.
One key point is have a clear cut cast Iron Terms of Service and a Code of Conduct you can edit.
For payment you need a good CC/DC processing company and perhaps a PayPal account.

You need a website, a lot of time and dedication.
The other things you need are
1) A credit card processing system (merchant account)
2) A billing software
3) A support loggin and tracking system
4) A marketing method...
The list goes on.
But be good and dedicated to your work. Be nice to your customers and potential customers.
Be fast in responding.
