I host my site at one2host.com Since 6 days the site is down and nobody from one2host is replying. Any suggestions what to do? I did not make a back-up from the site

Cut your loses and move on.
That is unacceptable.

Ok, but I just paid for a year hosting, could I get this back one way or another?

If you just paid it, you could call up your hosting company and ask for a chargeback on the funds.

Ask them for it back first.
Keep a copy of your request.
And then do a chargeback with your credit card company if you must.

If they refuse to refund you, or you cannot get in touch with them to get a refund, contact your credit card company who can perform a chargeback.

Six days? No more waiting. Move on. And always, always keep a local copy of your site.

After 9 days having my website down, I received following answer from One2host:

"Dear Bestaviationsites.com,

We sincerely apologize for the late response to your tickets. Unfortunately
it isn't possible to get to your site files on the old Cobalt server
anymore. We know this is very inconvenient for you as you say that you don't
have any local backup on your computer. Again, we deeply regret this
situation.

Support One2host"

Can you believe it; Apparently they changed servers and did not give me the opportunity to get my data first. Ok I know it is my own fault as well, I shoud have made a local copy, but still, this is not a really nice webhost is it?

HI!
Out of curiosity.
If such a thing does happen (please note that I'm not supporting such things) what is the best thing to say to the client.
I mean what would you have liked to hear
Crewmember.

The mail these guys sent did sound OK and had a decent apology. However, I feel the only thing which maybe I would have done is given a full refund of the site too..
Would that have made the situation slightly better. Also I would have responded within a day.

I'd really appriciate some feedback here as it would help us learn more what the client really wants.... :)

I hope you found a host who is good.

Have a great day :)

Regards
Amar

A refund would have been nice, but they do apologize but they don't try to help me and that is annoying; they offer a "back-up service" ; you can download a zipfile. That's what we did and we told them so. They don't even reply to our suggestion that we send them this zip file and they open it for us; the zip file is a special one which can not be opened by us, but only by a special program they have..

I think the answer they have sent us is a standard one....after such a long time waiting.

Thanks!

they sound like a bunch of morons.

ask for a refund and get the hell out of there.

Thanx. The biggest problem here has been a communication problem I guess. They should have been faster in giving the bad news..
I wish you all the best wih your new host.
Have a great day :)

I've heard bad things about them. You should try another host.

Now I keep sending them emails asking them at least to try to get my data from the zip file. I have to do so by means of a support ticket and they send me a message there is a reply. When I open the"reply" nothing is written..Can you believe it?

Has anyone gotten a fax number from them that's reachable internationally? I want to cancel my account, but the fax number on the Website is part of the UK "Personal Numbering Service" and thus is not reachable from the US, where I am.

I've asked and asked and they don't listen.

FYI, I switched to MySiteSpace Pro (http://www.mysitespacepro.com) and am very happy. Cheaper than One2Host.com, too.

I've paid for a site with these rip-offs and have not received any service at all. The email links for sales, support, etc. are all bogus.

Why revive such an old thread?

Maybe it's to give an example of how a host can be really bad and still be online 2 years later.
They have been offering unlimited bandwidth since day one.
Hard to believe.
