Hi, last week i was talking with a friend about people doing programming and Internet work at India and how people from India are being hired for IT jobs and all that.

And i was wondering: "why there are tech people in India?", is there any reason why people from India get into the IT or Web field?.

I am curious about that, some friend from India maybe could give us an explanation.

;)

Regards!.

well, generally companies from US higher consultants in India who do interview etc, work for them. Many MNCs directly advertise in Big newspapers like TIMES OF INDIA India's largest selling news paper. I am sure on one advertisement you will get atleast 100 application for same post so it becomes difficult to evaluate the proper person.

--------------
: "why there are tech people in India?",
--------------

In India unemployment ratio is very high, so job is not a choice but a chance. Also, everybody wants to become bill gates or atleast secure a white color job in air condition environment and computer are just perfect for that. In India you will get good programmers for around $300-$500 per month, so development cost is considered low as compare to US and other western countries.

Now days, I.T. (software programmers) people are paid high'st then any other industry in India. So, the choice for many people is clear, they want money and stablity so they are ready to switch there carrier to computers.

Also, Indian programmers are very talented and hard working but less innovative because of lack of resources and goverment support. I am from india and i am in I.T. industry so i know many things in details. You can PM me for any further information.

"why there are tech people in India?"

1. India has a lot of engineering and technology schools.
2. India is the world's second most populous country. So, even if the literacy rate is low compared to the industrialized nations, because of high population, the total number of educated professionals is very high.
3. It is very hard to get into some of the top technical schools. Only less than top 1% get accepted in to the Institute of Technology campuses, which are some of the world's top tech schools. Most of the graduates migrate to the US and are directly recruited from large companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Sun, GE, etc., These academic programs in these schools (not research) are considered to be at par or better than some presigious schools in the US like MIT, Stanford, etc.,
4. Then there are hundeds of other University level technical programs and again just like in the US, this is the second and third level of graduates.
5. Hence, India is only second in the world in terms of technical workforce.
6. A lot of fortune 500 companies have setup branches in India and specifially for programming. A lot work is done 24 hrs. a day as (when it is daylight in the US it is evening in India - 10.5 hrs difference). A lot of work is beamed via satellites and coferences are held via video conferencing by companies like Novell.
7. Becuase of the exchange rates, compared to the currencies of the Industrialized world, labor is cheaper and hence cost effective for anyone wanting to get software development in India.
8. English is widely spoken in India.
9. US accounting practices are widely practiced by most large indian companies.
8. India is one of the top exporters of software.

All this just adds to the hype, interest and opportunity and hence there are tech people in India.

is there any reason why people from India get into the IT or Web field?.
Where there are more jobs and relatively higher wages, more people want to be in there, whether it is IT or something else - simple.

As I said, lots of talented people are available here but you need to find some way to requite them. because you are in U.S. you need to either tie-up with some local company in india or contract or higher them as consultant and get your work done.

Of course if you want people work direct for you then you need to setup infrastructure facilities in India. Government of India have special rules and regulations for foreign investment in India. In India many U.S. software and Hardware companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Sun, Dell computers, Compaq, IBM computers and many have there own corporate offices and development center here because of cheap and quality labor available. India is filled with top skills IT people, the only thing is that you need to find them and learn how to exploit the possibilities. All infrastructure facilities add to cost of labor, but still MNCs companies find it cheap.

There are many possibilities, if you are interested in tie up or you need any advice / information etc, PM me or email me for further talks.

well, to put it simply..

the guys are more intelligent [ i dont mean to be rude, but its true ], but dont have the business minds.. they are bad managers but great workers... we are hard workers and will go that extra mile...

the above leads to a highly skilled but a cheap labour force...

as simple as that. ;)

well said kunal, but this is true in every country otherwise every one will become boss or start there own biz.

somebody have to be boss and they do because of there enterprenur skills.

but this is true, that many people in India don't get chance because of lack of monetary resources and virtually no goverment support.

Kunal,

I don't think there is such a thing (more intelligent people in one particular country) and it is universal. That is a myth (Indians are not good managers).

but dont have the business minds.. they are bad managers but great workers...
You can go to silicon valley for example or any other high concentration areas where Indian immigrants live (NY, NJ) and do a survey. You will find more managers and entrepreneurs per capita for any immigrant community in the world. In fact, the per capita income of Indian immigrants in the US is the highest of any other. These are the same people with same backgrounds who came from India. Of course, it is a differene environment - that is the only difference.

Actually I would say that Indians are into everything. If you ever get the statistics of Indians in US you'd be amazed. Also if you get the stats of what they are doing you'd be even more amazed. You'd see indians right from doctors to cab drivers in the US. Actually the same applies in every country.
Indians are generally very hard working and responsible so success is just a matter of time for most of them.
I'm a very proud Indian and respect every fellow being for what they are....... :)

Have a great day :)
