Hello,

After reading lots of threads, etc... I am thinking about opening a Directi reseller account, but I would like to get feedbacks to know if it is interesting or not...

Basically, it is to buy domain for my personal use at the cheapest price possible and resell some at higher price but not much...
I want to manage all of them at the same place and with one account, that's why I'm want to go for a reseller account and I want to be the real owner of the domain to avoid any problems. And I do not need all the forwarding stuffs etc as I have a reseller webhosting account where I can manage all the domains.

It seems that directi.com, is free to join and that you have nothing to pay them, but if it is true, how do they earn money? What is the advantage of an enom account compared to a directi one?

Thanks in advance
Ludo

i didn't use them before, but if i weren't that big at enom i would moved there :) cheaper pricing and almost identical to enom (or being by time :P )

if you want cheapest price u can go with enom NAME ONLY account for $5.99 but you can't redirect it to any other nameservers.

ok, then if you say so Bashar, it must mean they are reliable ;)

But about the name only account for $5.99 what does that mean I can't redirect to any other nameservers?
I will always have to use ns1.enom.com and ns2.enom.com (for instance) ?
But will I be able to configure properly my IP, MX servers, etc?

you won't be able to modify the nameservers only the whois info, so they can benefit from the incoming traffic from their paid search engine :)

if u want there is activation fee i think $3 or so to activate a domain and start using it (which after u sell it) :)

DirectI is nice, but you get so many emails about downtime notices.. In the last few months, I've probably gotten at least two dozen.

What do you mean by downtime?

You mean downtime of their services? If it is so, it's ok for me...
Because I will mainly use it for personal use, just to buy my domains and manage all of them at the same place. But I reckon, for a professional reseller it must be a real pain if their web site if often down...

i think downtime for upgrading and applying their new addons/features.

Oh, ok Bashar :)

Just a question regarding your signature, why there is no paypal for kuwait?
It is not a worldwide application?

kuwait and all other arab world countries aren't listed at paypal authorized countries.. seems they are afraid from fraud, although they can provide only bank funding rather than credit card funding.

dunno why

They do send notices about registries "downtime", so DanX's comments is not accurate at all.

I just received one notice about a downtime due to a maintenance... the first one since they upgraded their interface a couple of months ago.

I wonder how many registrars are proactive regarding this notices... I mean, informing you by email instead to obligue you to visit their websites to be informed.

Greetings,
