In appreciation of telling those good hosting companies, I'm going to sign up with webexpose.net. In the sign up form, they asked for referral. I don't know if you can get anything from it, but if you want, tell me and I'll put your name or whatever you want to there.

Sincerely,

N, you're welcome.

If you really really want to put my name in the referral field, please feel free to mail me at bummer@mailandnews.com and I'll give you my details. Thanks. :)

(note : if anyone wonders why I'm not bothering to post my details here, it's because I still need a measure of privacy ;))

Welllll.... My blogging site should be up soon, so you can direct ppl to that instead ;)

Of course, if someone pays close attention to my 'www' link, it actually says 'coming on November 5th'. ;)

I'm working on it hard and fast as I speak..

BC, I already signed up with them, too long for me for answer :)

But I put: BC - moderator of webhostingtalk.com to that field :D (seriously). Don't know if they know you or not.

Anyway, thanks, also to Technics :).

LOL Not a problem. I don't mind anyway, and Philip will know who BC @ WebHostingTalk is.

*off to create a new support ticket and annoy the heck out of him for the 5th day running* :D

Webexpose look like they have a great package. How have you found them since you signed up ?

Do you know if they support server-side XML ?

Allen, you can do a Search on WebExpose. Of what I gather, BC has a great time with there tech support and loves them as a host.. hehe :)

Yep, they've been wonderful so far. Some things are taking a fraction longer to set up than I prefer (e.g. new MySQL DB for myself), but they're excused because a virus has swept through their company and laid 2-3 of their staff in bed (yikes). They're also working on the 3rd version of their CP, which will incorporate all aspects of controlling your site (including phpMyAdmin, add your own CFX/ActiveX DLLs, etc.). Support has been extraordinarily reliable (never one missed e-mails, and I've sent about 36 of them) and uptime has been great. The usual couple of glitches (like about 15-20 mins here and there because of someone else's ASP/CF code overflow) are still there, but that's to be expected of any NT host.

The only real biggie that I've had with them was a billing issue that's currently half-resolved at the moment - Philip's assured me he'll credit me for the appropriate amount next month. We'll see.....

Highly recommended (still)!

P.S. As far as I'm aware, they don't support server-side XML yet - you might like to ask them. I *think* it might be supported in the next version of their CP.

BC, I email WebExpose last weekend and Philip replied promptly telling me that at weekends they don't have full support and someone would contact me on Monday.

I waited until Thursday, when I replied to Philip's email asking for some response. So far I've heard nothing.

Now, I except that there is some delay because of time differences between the US and the UK. But a complete week to respond !!!

It doesn't give a very good impression. Do you know if they are having any problems that could be delaying the answer.

I was really excited about setting up an account with them.

Allen,

The only two things I can think of which is delaying their support/sales are :

1. a virus sweeping their office (which has left quite a few of their staff sick last week)

2. the latest release of their Control Panel 3. They're still fixing some of the bugs up so that might be occupying their time.

Apart from that.... I really don't know. I might lodge a little support request and see how quick they get back to me ;)

They normally respond within 24 hours but of lately I've sent them a couple of e-mails and its almost been a week without a reply. I wonder what's up..

But having said that.. their latest version of the Control Panel is neat. I like the part where you can register your own DLL files

After signing up followed BC's recommendation, I was very grateful. But, they haven't replied my question for almost 2 days recently. May be as BC said, they're (how many?) busy with the realease of nice control pannel. If that's a case, they should let us know what's going on, rather than being silence.

The bottom line, nobody is perfect, they might have some difficult time right now, so don't be so picky :). My account is on 30-day trial and if there's not a reasonable excuse to convince, I'll cancel it.

I'm not being 'picky', I just want to get on an set-up my site. I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer

For NT hosts, http://www.innerhost.com/ is one of the best. Most of the ASP resource sites are hosted there such as http://www.aspin.com/

I had a look at InnerHost. They seem more expensive than WebExpose, and my sight is not that heavily used, so I don't think I need the extra expense at the moment.

FineHost.com. They are offering Free month and free set-up. But their prices seem to be rather on the high end. I read a few positive posting on then on some boards
