OK, some people complained about RackShack's high setup fee. My credit company loves me. I am ready to pay all the fees and resell RackShack's servers for $150/mo. and $170/mo. with no setup fees and no contract. Server specs are here:

webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=26934

To be clear:

1 GHz CPU/512 MB RAM/20 GB hard disk - $150/mo. no setup
1 GHz CPU/1 GB RAM/2x20 GB hard disks - $170/mo. no setup
1 GHz CPU/512 MB RAM/2x40 GB hard disks - $170/mo. no setup

All have 200 domains Plesk license. All have 300 GB/mo. transfer inlcuded. Additional traffic is at RackShack's prices (currently $1.5/GB)

You pay me, I pay RackShack. Subject to availability and RackShack's acceptance. No change of ownership (RackShack did not charge for this so far, but who knows what happens in future). I am not RackShack's employee.

You can test ping and download speed of one of new RackShack's servers here:

do you have something worked out with RackShack? No. I am acting as RackShack's reseller. I am RackShack's customer with (currently) 5 own servers and affiliate with total confirmed number of 64 RackShack servers sold. Robert Marsh, RackShack CEO, does not have any problems with this idea (please see his answer below)

Added on Nov 26, 2001: today I received official letter from RackShack confirming that "This arrangement is perfectly fine by us"Originally posted by Get-Hosted.com
can you keep a canceled server going and just clear everything out?Yes, Plesk 2.0 allows to uniinstall itself together with all sites, users and domains and reinstall it again. There is no change of ownership when I re-sell this server - I am still RackShack's customer. I am going to keep the server, clear it up, and offer it for re-selling again in case the previous user decides to cancel the account.Originally posted by Donovan
he will pay the set up fees and the monthly fees no matter you are using or not. If you want to cancel the plan, he will just clear things up and let somebody else use itThat's correct.Originally posted by headsurfer
we generally only provide support to our direct customerThis answers questions of some people who sent me e-mails regarding support: you raise your problems to me, I, when appropriate, raise them to RackShack. You are my customer, I am RackShack's customer.

This may create some additional delay when there is a problem I can't deal with without RackShack involvment (like manual reboot). However, I anticipate that in many cases I should be able to help without even talking to RackShack's techs, e.g.: Plesk software upgrade, SSH installation etc, in which cases your problem could be solved faster than talking directly to RackShack. Talk to my current (virtual) hosting users regarding support I provide to them: 99servers.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=8Originally posted by headsurfer

I also think people will like this.

But do you have something worked out with RackShack? or if someone cancels a server do you just eat the setup fee unpaid with the server? Or can you keep a canceled server going and just clear everything out?

I like that thinking. You took a great working service and took it to the next step. Good thinking :)

Just my 2 cents.

We love resellers! It happens all day long with folks buying a dedicated server from us and then selling virtual sites. Why would we care?

We do! We love it!

At the end of the day, Rackshack has sold a server. Dennis is happy and his customer is happy.

The only thing is that we generally only provide support to our direct customer. This has to do with our privacy concerns. General questions, I think we'll be happy to frespond to. Plus, teh Rackshack forum is a great place to get help.

We have no arrangement with Dennis and he is a clever fellow. He has been a good customer and we appreciate that.

This should be in no way considered an endorsement, but ranther, at this very moment, I have no problem with his proposal.

Good luck!
