Hello

I've been reading over previous posts about these guys and I've seen a mixed response.

On the one hand some people are saying they are very reliable (and so cheap) while on the other hand some people are saying the company is run by a bunch of teenagers (from their bedroom using sdsl) and that they spam people.

My questions are: are you using http://www.secured-net.net now? are they any good? how's their support? what about reliability?

Thank you

Perhaps I can clear up a little bit here. Secured-Net.Net was bought a couple of months ago by SmartWeb, LLC. It is now run as a wholly owned subsidiary of SmartWeb, LLC. There were problems before the sale.

Problems before the sale? No kidding. I know the kid (yes, kid) that owed it. He was 13 (or 14...can't remember). A friend of mine and his best friend sued him and took him to court for not having a business license and not providing the promised and paid-for service. He sold it so he couldn't have any reason to be sued.

I was told from the people that ran on his server that he used 2 fractional DSLs to run his web hosting business. I was also told that his DNS would go down every morning around a certain time for around 10 or 20 minutes.

Now that it is in another company's hands, I'm sure that they are doing a better job with it than he did with it. I haven't heard anything about the new company, so I can't really comment on their reliability *now*.

while it's kinda scary thinking a hosting company can be run by a 13 year old, it's also quite impressive!!!

Im 16, but then we use MChost to provide our services, I do have a machine on my home dsl line, but I only use that for running things like IRC bits and testing programs :)
