View Full Version : Control Panel
Quill 11-23-2001, 06:17 AM Okay, I'm new at this thing. You see, I've heard a lot about control panels for server administrator. Now how about the web-based control panel for the customers, where they can manage their subdomain, add pop3 email. I don't know how to exatcly decribe it, but just take a look at this site:
http://www.hostrocket.com/control/index.htm
That's an awesome set of control panel, isn't it? Can anybody please tell me where and how to install that?
Quill 11-23-2001, 06:50 AM Okay, one of them is cpanel. But I sometimes also saw you guys mentioned about plesk. I paid a visit to plesk, it's for server administrator. Any others apart from cpanel?
And what kind of control panel does HostRocket use?
mdrussell 11-23-2001, 07:21 AM It looks a nice cp, although it has many of the same features that cpanel does, I think it's an in-house written one - they created it themselves.
Quill 11-23-2001, 08:07 AM Cool, they must have some really good programmers with that.
bobcares 11-26-2001, 06:57 AM This is indeed an very good looking and feature rich system. I wonder who developed it.....
akashik 11-26-2001, 07:15 AM I'm pretty sure it's Cpanel, at least the last time I looked over there. With some decent design it scrubs up ok (no offense Carlos), and looks like a brand new beast.

fazloo 11-26-2001, 04:23 PM Hosting Controller (http://hostingcontroller.com) is the best available win2k/NT control panel I ever seen... The product is great, support is excellent and price is unbeleivable .. We are very happy with them .. :stickout :stickout :stickout :D
Quill: what do you mean by:
"...I paid a visit to plesk, it's for server administrator. Any others apart from cpanel? ..."
Plesk is exactly what you are looking for, like some others mentioned in this thread are. I won't go into which is better now, but do look at Plesk site again...
It gives you the cp for server owner, reseller and end user. This is what you're looking for, right...?

The HR control panel is their own skin but the system itself is webpanel. Webpanel is a cousin of cpanel but not controlled by DarkOrb.

netsolutions 11-27-2001, 03:24 AM It is webpanel
Quill, I suggest if your just starting out with Control Panels then you should use Plesk. That allows you to admin your server and gives your clients a user control panel.
mdrussell 11-27-2001, 04:13 AM It does look pretty good, it didn't look like Cpanel.... but now all is explained.
Anyone have experience designing skins for web panel? Because I played around with it a little, but didn't particuarly like it...
Chicken 11-27-2001, 04:45 AM Members CRego3D and dahlia are a couple I know of that have done some skins, however I'm not sure if they have any for sale, you'd have to ask them directly (off-board).
