Maybe I am not getting something about them? They seem like a great company (low prices and from my experience taking about thing good support). I have a hosting plan from someone that uses rackshack, they don't need to provide me with any kind of support they still do. I know there have been some complains about them taking a break on a holiday (wow, what a concept  ) and a few slow downs due to congent bandwidth (althought this happens to other congent users too). So basicly I am really wondering what is so bad about them. The only real valid points I have seen is that: They have high set up fees (but @ $99 a month), sometimes their tech supports doesn't know all the answers (but its better than getting BS), and their tech support isn't 24/7/365. Most of the others seem like hosting jelously, can someone tell me why you don't think rackshack is a good host...
Thanks

oh yeah, If you are a host (or work for a hosting company) could you please state so...

I think you covered the points, but if you search for rackshack, you'll find user's past comments (might be some in the Cobalt forum as well).

Well Andrew you said it, slow bandwith, tech support that can't give you all the answers, and no 24x7x365 tech support. That is not solid for companies that rely on the web for their business. If you just have a static website that is just informative this may do but if your business soley relied on the web a host like that will not suffice.

I have no real gripes with RackShack. They definately have good deals, however, in my opinion, the setup fees on the new servers are way too high. I have a Raq with them, and the only problem I have had was it taking 24-48 hours to restore the Raq.

The only slow down was really when they were testing out their link, now I get ping time of about 50ms from both their main site and others.

The bandwidth is not slow. In fact, after we moved there, all of our clients noticed a big speed improvement. We did move from a rather lousey co-lo facility, but I can't imagine the speeds being any faster.
I get 1.1Mbps 24/7 from both of my RS servers, which is my full line speed. I don't know what it would max out at.
My one experience with tech support was a physical re-boot that was needed. Took about 5 minutes from the time I called to the time my server was back online.
