View Full Version : Moving 82 domains from old company to new. HELP!
Spesh00 10-23-2000, 05:46 PM A web hosting company I used to work for (as the system administrator) is going under, (horrible managament)currently, there are 82 domains that are still hosted by the company. The owner of the company has offered to let me take all 82 domains and form my own small company. Domain reselling seems to be my only option. However I have $300 dollars to my name to get this started, I have the billing software, all the domains archived and ready to go along
with all mail forwarding information and the like..
The problem I'm coming up with is getting a company to wave the per domain setup fee.. at between 10 and 20 dollars per domain for setup, I'm never going to find a home for these other domains. I've even stated that per month I'd be willing to offer a larger cut until the setup fees would be "paid off".
Aitcom has the lowest per domain hosting fee (2 dollars) however, they have a 20 dollar setup fee per domain, others have similar fees that I can't seem to get around.
Can anyone point me to a domain reseller that has some kind of free setup policy so I can at least get off the ground? Thanks very much.
kunal 10-23-2000, 05:49 PM Why not get a d-server when you have 300$ on your name?

DanielP 10-23-2000, 06:00 PM Hmmmmmmm, 82 domains hu?
Sounds like a challenge.
Give me a hollar by one of the ways below and I'll give you a hand and see if we can work something out. I'll do my good deed for the year :)
$300 and 82 domain? hmm.. $3.67 per domain
What kind of space/bandwidth/email's etc. are needed for the account? And will the be *nix, NT or both?
We are here to help you. Let us know.
Chicken 10-23-2000, 08:13 PM It's nice to see you guys willing to help out for the sake of karma. Goodness knows it isn't money :) If you are in a pinch, lemme know and I'll try to help out as well.
JimDonahew 10-23-2000, 08:16 PM He should get a cheap dedicated server,
his best choice could be a RaQ3.
Well I am sure that you will get help from the people above but if not contact me I can help you for sure.
Chicken 10-23-2000, 09:14 PM Actually, you should contact WAR, as he has a unique situation that might help you. He can't say this on the boards, but I've been talking with him on ICQ this past week. You guys might be able to work together and kill two birds (not chickens mind you!) with one stone.

Well, why don't we all just advertise here. Seems like a good enough place. I can't seem to recall an advertising forum for that, so I must be in the right spot!
partition 10-24-2000, 09:02 AM try on imperum.com they have an offer called "dedicated disk" That is not a dedicated server but you have disco space (e.g. 1.6Gb $180/month reseller space) on oyur disposal where you can setup domains by yourself all with free IP adresses control panel no limits' for domains ecc. ecc.

Yes, why not? And since the moderators now appear to be acting as business brokers, let's throw out the rule book and all sense of professional decorum as well.
I'm very disappointed.
