View Full Version : Flash Intros & Transparent Advertisements for $100!

I am a professional Flash developer. Right now, I'm offering TWO (either) of my flash services for $100 - FLAT RATE.

Regularly, I charge at LEAST $350 for a Flash Intro, and upwards of $400 for the Transparent Advertisement, which has proven to be an effective new method of advertising on larger, high bandwidth sites.

As per usual, I do not charge a penny until the client is satisfied with the end product, which I will quickly and effectively present. For those of you who aren't familiar, I use this method to ensure an initial trust with my newer clients.

If you are interested in this offer, or have any questions at all - please email me (bm@zendico.net) or PM me. My ICQ # is 65157728. I'd prefer those contact methods, rather than replying to this individual thread.

What's a "Transparent Advertisement"?

All the ads I've seen recently are IYF :D

A transparent advertisement is a flash movie that sits atop a webpage so that the background is transparent, and the animation content is displayed and played. They are pretty popular, but you don't see them often.

Sites like Yahoo! and Lycos usually have them. People usually don't mind them at all, as long as they are short.

Do you have a link to an example of such.

www.download.com had a Windows XP transparent ad. It was alright, but after awhile of visiting the site, it got old. I suggest that you have a cookie or something so that it only plays once.

Him being part of Nine-One I can vouch for Xenon's quality of work. I definatley recommend him to anybody looking for a flash intro.

is the CDW flash ad an example of what you are talking about? I didn't see the XP ad you mentioned...

Note: these ad's don't work in Nutscrape (netscape) if anyone cares.

I guess they took down the XP one off of the main page. But when it was up, you typed in download.com and the page loaded, and all the sudden, a little guy started to fly across the screen and the moadona music started to play. Then the Windows XP appeared on the screen. Then, about 3 seconds after it started, it all came together in the 468x60 banner at the top of the page and that was it.

Chicken,

As for the CDW ad, no - that isn't what I'm talking about, unless I'm looking at something different - which is possible, as every time you refresh that page, a new ad comes up - several of which I've seen are CDW.

I'm not sure if you've seen them before, as per you would probably remember. :)

What jimb said pretty much put tells you what it is. :)

Brendan is actually doing some work for my company

I would not use this company for anything. They do not hold up there end at all, and i have facts to prove this.

The best bet, stay away

As for who "Brendan" is, I'm not too sure. My name is Brandon. Hmm... What does that tell you?

This client represents the 0.7% of my clients who are unsatisifed.

Uncooperative and rude. :disagree:
If you want to be harassed by someone who acts like a 12 year old, and will actually call you names - design a site for this guy! A site for very little, that is.

It's pretty tough to get ripped off by a developer who doesn't require anything but cooperation until the client is completely satisifed.

I can see this going no where. Can you guys please contact eachother off forum and settle your differences?

The simple facts are this

He agreed that for hosting he would design one of our divisions sites.

Hosting was givin right away actually the same day, plus a welcome letter and what not.

2 weeks later the only comment i keep getting is that Im trying to come up with a idea.

Regardless of what he may think, we held up our end. Hosting was given, he did not hold up his end. If it was a problem with cost then it would have been brought up, but it never was...

After 2 weeks of seeing nothing my patience runs out. Nothing is free in this world and if a company can not hold up there end those are companies I would stay away from. How can you say we are uncooperative when are job has been completed. If you call being harrassed me wondering what is going on after 2 weeks then you make your own judgement.

Chicken the issue is closed in our book. His hosting account is gone and off our servers, and I would not recommend doing business with this person or company. I dont like people wasting my time. If we agree on terms and we do our job, i expect the same on the opposite side of the coin, its that simple.

As for him holding up his part of the deal, his part of the deal was to provide hosting for one year. He provided it for two weeks. (3.8% of the total term). Am I expecting hosting, even though no site design was presented? NO WAY! He is absolutely no obligation to provide further services. We had a clearly stated agreement, which he has decided to deviate from. I'm not too concerned about it, as I am MORE than willing in any situation to clear things up, and settle things out - until the client is satisifed.

Just to clear things up, I have offered to reimburse in form of design at zero cost or obligation to the client (twice!), but have yet to recieve any sort of acknowledgment that he'd like to take up the offer.

To respect the general rules and regulations of the forum, I would like this matter to now be taken up FULLY via email or other methods of communications. Bringing it up in a thread like this is LESS than tasteful.

Im not going to sit here and argue with him, If i wanted money I would go pay someone for the design.

If you all would like I will copy and paste all of the ICQ history from day one till now.

The simple facts are this, If he couldnt hold up his end, tell me the next day but dont say your working on something and then 2-3 weeks later back out, its just not right

I havent responded to him because I deleted him from ICQ and want nothing to do with him and or his company.

I dont like doing business with people like this

The issue in my book is resolved, his hosting account is gone, the agreement is terminated

Joe 2 weeks is not a long time to wait for a designer to come up with an idea. On Sep 5th I got a company to design my site I gave them 50% of the money it was over a month and I didn’t get anything then I got really mad I called and they told me that it is still being worked on not to get mad that I will be happy with the outcome I waited more about a week or so later I got something and it was amazing I really felt that my money went to something good. It has been 2 months and a half and my site is still not out it is on its final stage and I know that when it comes out that it will be great. Now this may not have anything to do with Xenon210. But it will tell you that ideas don't just popup in people’s head they have to go through a process where they think, think and think. No I have looked at some of Xenon210's work and I can tell you that when he hands you the site that it will be something worth your hosting, time and maybe more then that. If I had the style and quality of work he has I will not give out my design for some hosting. You should be happy that he is doing that for you. Joe just give him time. Creativity takes time. Ask him how much time he needs and come up with an agreement, I promise you that you will not regret that time you wait.

UPDATE-> Issue Resolved!

JBIZ718
11-25-2001, 05:10 PM
The issue was resolved as so (but not in good terms)

We will go seperate ways, I want nothing to do with them

Hosting account cancelled, and design work cancelled

One i do agree that patience is fine, but in previous expierence with designers I usually get layouts or are usually working with them to design my site. Also regardless of his work, I have seen nothing to proove that there is anything for me to waste my time on.

I will hold off on other comments
