View Full Version : [POLL]- Greatest sitcom ever? seinfeld
jasong 05-06-2004, 10:46 PM With the end of Freinds and Frasier, What do you think is the best sitcom ever made?
I'll personally go for Seinfeld, how can you not love it?
If you have another favorite, just select "other" and post your favorite.
webmultitude 05-06-2004, 10:57 PM Married With Children
Hiccups 05-06-2004, 11:13 PM No "Everybody Loves Raymond"? No "King of Queens"? No "All in the Family"? tsk tsk tsk...
Gen-T 05-06-2004, 11:21 PM Modern day = Seinfeld / Everybody Loves Raymond.
Classic = I Love Lucy / Andy Griffith.
jasong 05-06-2004, 11:23 PM I knew i was going to forget some!
well, i cant change the poll any more :(
I give a mod permission (even though they dont need any) to add Everybody Loves Ramond and All in the Family.
Critic 05-06-2004, 11:24 PM I voted "other", some of that list i do like quite a lot but to say one of them is the greatest ever....hmm i think i'll sit on the fence but if i had to choose i would have ot include the following in my nomination's list without a shadow of a doubt:
Faulty Towers
Red Dwarf
One Foot in the Grave
Some good British classics there, gotta be up there.
This one has had global recognition and awards in recent times and i can't believe it hasn't made your list as it apparently did well in America; where's The Office?
Also could an animated program be considered as a sitcom do you think as if so would The Simpsons fall into the category?
One for any Brits reading this, is Alan Partridge just a comedy series or could it be considered as a sitcom? It is soooo funny  IMO
There's been an on going debate in recent years between fans of Fraiser and Seinfeld as to which is the better one, would any of you put Friends ahead of both? As someone who has watched Friends and Fraiser to a lesser extent but not Seinfeld i cannot really say, so what do you lot think??
Critic,
Acroplex 05-06-2004, 11:25 PM "Martin"
WAZZZZZUP?!

Forgot the "Black Adder", my favorite :D
jasong 05-06-2004, 11:33 PM I dont live in Europe so didnt add any brit sitcoms.
I was thinking about adding the simpsons, but decided it wasnt really as much of a "sitcom" as much as the others were. (please no arguments on that simpsons fans :))
As to Martin, I'm a big fan of martin lawrence, but i wouldnt say a lot of people are big fans of that series ( I was gonna add fresh prince too )
I would again say that Seinfeld is deffinatly better than Frasier and Freinds, its just so frickin halarious and random. My buddies always call me
Kramer :)
Acroplex 05-06-2004, 11:34 PM Right on, Kosmo. :D
I was mad this didn't include good cartoons :( So I made my own. I don't watch sitcoms anymore..I did watch friends, fraiser and drew carey alot

Black Adder, oh man what a laugh!!
APEXware 05-07-2004, 02:21 AM 1. Night Court
2. Seinfeld
mantra 05-07-2004, 08:52 AM Seinfeld is perhaps the best comedy show ever!!
I still can't get enough of the reruns...
RossH 05-07-2004, 12:19 PM Drew Carey is my freaking hero. He kills all the stereotypes in hollywood. What other fat ugly guy has a show named after him?
Seinfeld is always good for a laugh. I don't know what show I consider best. I got a lot of favorites.
Like critic said, Red Dwarf. That is one of my favorites. Its also one show that a lot of people never heard of. Thats to bad because its such a great show. I just wish they would hurry up and get that movie made.
Some other shows not mentioned....
Family Ties
Perfect Strangers
Full House
Growing Pains
Dukes of Hazzard
A-Team
AirWolf
Knight Rider
ChiPs
Kimmikat 05-07-2004, 04:36 PM All in the Family and Three's Company!
Kimmikat 05-07-2004, 04:39 PM Also forgot, Alf was a good show too.
Although not a comedy, Knight Rider was one of my favourites...

"Fawlty towers", or "Yes, (Prime) Minister" are my two favourites.
As for Stateside sitcom's, Friends just about edges out Seinfeld in my opinion. Seinfeld was sometimes hysterical, but had more weak episodes than friends.
Simon
airnine 05-07-2004, 05:25 PM Black Adder
Fawlty Towers
On The Buses
Only Fools And Horses
'Alo 'Alo
Yes Minister
Jeeves And Wooster
You Rang M'Lord
I'm sure I forgot some, but I think these comedies pretty much outrate those suggested in the poll, except for MASH, which is one of the best ever.
Of course these comedies present classic British humor and you have to be either British or close to it to understand and like it.
Zopester 05-07-2004, 05:26 PM airnine, you did indeed forget a couple: Open All Hours and Porridge. But I'll forgive you, this once! :D

Both brilliant.
Ronnie Barker at his best :)

As David Jason (G-g-g-g-g-g-g-ranville! :D ) puts it, he's the Guv'nor.
Reyox Stephen 05-07-2004, 09:12 PM Modern: Seinfeld
Old: The Honeymooners
Seinfeld was great because you will never see another character like Krammer and the Honeymooners is just classic, I mean how can you not laugh at it.
CArmstrong 05-07-2004, 10:31 PM Definitely Seinfeld. It never gets old, even the reruns that are on dozens of times a week :) I'd also have to put a vote in for Law and Order. I guess it's a sitcom :P
Reyox Stephen 05-07-2004, 10:33 PM LOL drama man :-P
gina_ 05-07-2004, 10:42 PM What, nobody likes Tool Time!?! i like all the shows listed, but Seinfeld and Tool Time will distract me everytime!
(i clicked on Other)
APEXware 05-08-2004, 03:35 AM Tool Time was the fake show on Home Improvement. ;) At least I think that's what you're talking about.
secludo 05-08-2004, 04:02 AM Roseanne!
viGeek 05-08-2004, 04:11 AM All in the family
net-trend 05-08-2004, 06:52 AM Frasier, Everybody Loves raymond, Will & Grace, Just SHoot Me and Curb your enthusiasm....now those are my faves...:D
But the best has got to be Frasier.
bobcares 05-08-2004, 07:54 AM Friends.... They were really cool.
Amar
buttonbiz 05-08-2004, 09:26 AM Friends, Will & Grace, and Seinfeld are some of the best sitcoms ever.
Isn't it odd that they were all on NBC?
Ryan
Sean123 05-08-2004, 09:27 AM I love watching the reruns of Seinfeld. I think every episode is great.
I haven't really gotten a chance to watch most of the others, so I wouldn't know.
net-trend 05-08-2004, 09:29 AM I just realised "That 70s Show" is missing from the list as well. Another sitcom I enjoy. :)
Nobody mentioned Fresh Prince :D
I actually found some of those shows funny.

Ahh yes! Thats the one.. Home Improvement! Sorry about that.
jasong 05-08-2004, 01:04 PM I dispise Home Improvement. Everything that happens in that show you can tell whats gonna happen and i can never find it funny.
But it is sadwhiched right inbetween the drew cary show and seinfeld. :(
tweety 08-28-2004, 02:44 AM This sure is a tough choice... I'm thinkin between Seinfeld and Friends. I guess they'll both split the 1st place as I love them just as much. :D
