Don't frequent any other forums remotely related to computers, so I figured this would be the best place to post this...

I have a IBM P92 19" Color Monitor that I've had for about 2-3 years now. I haven't noticed the problem since I'm so used to noticing it, the perception has corrupted my ability to notice the problem but according to my better half (otherwise known as the girlfriend) as well as a few other people who have used my monitor recently: It sometimes outlines stuff as if it is double (i.e. two of the same things sitting behind one another with one slightly uneven) and text has blue outlining etc.

Anybody possibly know what the problem is? I'd appreciate any suggestions. In the meantime I have a glare screen in place.

Like there's kind of "ghosting" going on, like it's out of focus?

Check out if your monitor has a setting called "Moire", that will probably fix it if you have that option. Otherwise, what else do you have?

Also, check for interference I guess. Reroute the cable and turn stuff off around the monitor just to see if anything changes. Run a DeGauss too if your monitor has that built-in.

(does some checking)

Yup, looks like you've got a real good monitor there. I was always taught the Trinitron tube is a good thing. From what I read your monitor should have Degauss and Moire, try one to demag and then fine-tune the Moire, and it should match up. Good luck, though, it's hard to tell without looking away and back again. :D

That will also sometimes happen if the CRT driver is getting old and cannot drive the AMPS need for the CRT. I had a monitor with this problem.

Did getweb's advise fix it?
Couldn't really expand on that.
It was well thought out.
Just let us know if it's fixed now.
Or, if we have to explore different avenues.

Some monitors (mine does) have an option to do a 'factory reset' - all settings are changed to the original factory settings, and the screen is degaussed, so if you have this option, it may be worth trying it...

I have a 19" KDS Avitron (has the Sony trinitron tube I believe), and I might have the same problem. Haven't been able to correct it. Seemed to happen after a strange power problem (I think), which wouldn't surprise me as 1) I live in So. Cal. and the darn brown/blackouts make every electical device in my place die after a couple of years. 31" TV dead after 2 years, lightbulbs last 2-3 months max. I've got these $17 flourescent ring bulbs and I've just decided not to replace them. If it isn't a power thing, then these just suck, but I'm not convinced it isn't my evil electicity.

It gives me headaches and I can't tell when I'm tired as it looks blurry all the time :bawling:

Same thing happens to me that happens to Chicken. But anyhow, thanks for the advice ... it worked as far as I can tell but I've been using my other computer/monitor so I haven't really had a chance to get adjusted to the perception of this one.

Thanks again.

another setting to look for is the monitors "convergence"... This may be horizontal or vertical.

Basically it adjusts the different colours to meet at slightly different parts of the tubs... sort of like tracking on a video recorder

Not all monitors have this though... Just a thought

(Adam gives inaccurate advice) :D

Actually, the convergence adjustments is what helped quite a bit.

Also, I have both, convergence & moire options. Take it for what it's worth.
