Te above spec afford to be web server? stdunbar 05-06-2004, 01:48 PM A 1Mhz + 64KB Commodore 64 could be a web server. The question is what is your load? 5 static pages a day? Use the C64. 1000 requests/minute against a PHP based site with MySQL on the back? You might want something faster than a 1.2Ghz machine. The real question is what is your expected load? 0218 05-06-2004, 01:59 PM i plan to be low cost web hosting services. i expect to host 100 a/c php+mySQL and static website. is it possible? * server come with 900Gb bandwidth Kanagaraj 05-06-2004, 02:14 PM i have using Intel® Celeron® 1.7 GHz 256 MB 266MHz DDR SDRAM ECC to host 65 domains with plesk CP SupportPro 05-06-2004, 03:16 PM For a personal use this might be more than sufficient. It could work out for hosting service if you have few small websites. Since you have 1 GB RAM it can handle closer to 50-00 acounts. you might want stay away from cgi intenssive sites like cgi based forums and all.. You have to start somewhere.. Good luck. phpdeveloper 05-06-2004, 03:37 PM It's good for a web server, just don't overload it and you'll be fine. By overloading I mean putting more and more sites when it already shows signs of lagging pretty often. Commands such as 'top', 'ps', 'vmstat' are your friends. They will show you where you are at with your server. Good luck! 0218 05-16-2004, 01:17 PM Originally posted by Kanagaraj i have using Intel® Celeron® 1.7 GHz 256 MB 266MHz DDR SDRAM ECC to host 65 domains with plesk CP Windows server or linux ?? :) hw is your server load? Ramprage 05-18-2004, 02:34 AM Haha like anyone uses 900 gigs of bandwidth a month, I love the marketing. I am not afraid of this competition (slightly different niches), and the ads are a good page filler :) phpdeveloper 05-18-2004, 10:41 AM Originally posted by Ramprage Haha like anyone uses 900 gigs of bandwidth a month, I love the marketing. It's entirely possible, and with certain types of usage even this Celeron box can easily push that much and won't notice it :) devilbala 05-18-2004, 12:55 PM Originally posted by Ramprage Haha like anyone uses 900 gigs of bandwidth a month, I love the marketing.
