View Full Version : Who is good to use as a reseller?
iamdave 11-22-2001, 01:07 AM I am looking for a reseller plan that would provide the following:
Unlimited Number of domains
Fair Amount of Bandwidth
Fair Amount of Webspace
UNIX and WINDOWS hosting
CPANEL for customers
WHM for Reseller
Under 90 USD a month
Host with a ping rate of no more than 40
Private Name Servers.
Unlimted POP3 EMails/Forwarders/Autoresponders
Automatic account activation?(Not needed)
*I want some the same features that 121 host offers for resellers.*
----------
I've checked out 121host and fasthosts - but I am hesitant about the 'unlimited' bandwdith and webspace-and when I emailed them asking about it they refused to answer me.
----------
All suggestions are welcomed and encouraged.
Thanks
Dave
Rewdog 11-22-2001, 01:37 AM MCHost is a really good one, as well as VO
iamdave 11-22-2001, 03:01 AM Is 121host.net good or bad?

Vo doesn't offer unlimited domains, but they are a solid company. For companies that allow you to host unlimited domains. I would recommend
www.splashhost.com
www.mchost.com
www.ecommercediscovery.com
Don't even think about using a host that uses the unlimited bandwidth to describe their plans as unlimited bandwidth is a falacy. In my opinion, when you are looking for a reseller account, you should look for a host that offers you room to grow, and a host that has great uptime, support and reliability. This way you can be sure that they will be there for you and your clients in the long run.
iamdave 11-22-2001, 04:04 PM I agree. The 'unlimited' term scares me when I see it, therefor I do not want to go with 121host. Their customer service is okay but they are rude.

The Prohacker 11-22-2001, 07:10 PM Totally off subject but:
I was looking around 121host.net and noticed the $8.50 plan, but what the hell. A $50 setup fee? Are you guys crazy? I can understand a 15-20 buck setup, but 50???

What is the true amount of bandwidth and web space provided? Bandwidth is very expensive and I doubt 'unlimited' bandwidth is provided.

Does that answer your question 121host?
I might have become a customer...Is that how you treat customers?
AlaskanWolf 11-23-2001, 02:42 AM ummmmmmm
sounds more like an autoresponder then an answer
iamdave 11-23-2001, 03:22 AM They don't use autoresponers. Email sales@121host.net to test.
dendydan 11-23-2001, 03:43 AM I cannot see how acknowledging your emails yet failing to supply a specific answer withing 1.5 hours can be constituted as 'rude'.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 03:45 AM So you're saying that him telling me
"Hi,
Thank you for your email. Have a nice day/night.
Kind Regards,
Adam "
Twice and not answering my question isn't being rude?
dendydan 11-23-2001, 04:01 AM Hi,
Thank you for your last post. Have a nice day/night.

iamdave 11-23-2001, 04:14 AM Haha you're so funny. You shouldn't be at these forums you should become a comedian.
dendydan 11-23-2001, 04:16 AM Seriously though,
It is a big headache finding a good host. If one doesn't respond to a request in a way you like just move on. There are another 19,999 out there to respond in a way you might approve. Your time would be better spent looking at all the others rather than worry about this one if they have done something you do not like.
Good Luck !
121host 11-23-2001, 05:43 AM iamdave you have sent us over 20 emails and we responded to every one of them within 30 minutes but when we found that you are using 2 different email accounts to contact us we decided not to answer your questions. If you were interested you would have used one email account rather than 2 asking the same question in some of them.
Good luck in your search for a reseller account.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 05:53 AM I emailed you with a second email account because I e-mailed you with one and you never answered. So I decided to e-mail you with another.
Forigve me if this caused you any trouble.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 05:56 AM I would just like to know where your servers are located. And how you guys provide 'unlimited' space and bandwidth.

We replied to every email and your second email sent us over 30 emails and we replied to everyone.
:)
dendydan 11-23-2001, 07:11 AM hey dave i just checked 121host.net and it seems their plans are all clearly laid out and i can find no mention of unlimited space or bandwidth.
The plans they do have look quite good apart from the setup fee but they must think they are worth it.
Can you give me the url of where they are making the offer of unlimited space or bandwidth that you keep going on about?
Thanks
iamdave 11-23-2001, 07:29 AM It looks like they've since taken it out.
MCHost-Marc 11-23-2001, 07:34 AM Has anyone ever seen a hard drive with unlimited disk space? ;)
iamdave 11-23-2001, 07:35 AM ...lol kiwi... it's not visible to the naked eye...you have to have the hosting companie's eyes.

You can do better than that ! Or can you? I doubt it as professional would read everything before they comment on anything.
iamdave has written more than 40 emails regarding a reseller account and got a reply to everyone.

Lol Kiwi, I believe Fasthosts have a few of these, perhaps you should contact them regarding where they purchased them from? :)
121Host, afaik, the NAC datacentre does not have British Telecom as one of their connectivity providers, so why do you have a load of stuff about them on your "About Us" page? Also, I believe Pwebtech / NAC is located in the USA, and not the UK.
Perhaps you shouldn't copy and paste from win2000hoster.com and fasthosts.com ?
Matt
121host 11-23-2001, 12:37 PM M@tt we have servers in the UK and USA. You seem to repeat yourself grow up. If you want a UK based account you are welcome. :D
mdrussell 11-23-2001, 01:03 PM I stated twice that you blantantly copied material from other sites, no doubt breaking their copyright restrictions.
Please can you provide me with an IP for one of your UK based servers, and an IP for one of your US based servers, so I can decide which will be faster for me, so I know which to choose if I sign up?
iamdave 11-23-2001, 02:27 PM Quoted from 121host Terms Page
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unmetered Data Transfer
Unmetered Data Transfer means just that. We don't meter the amount of traffic you use. You won't get a suprise bill for additional bandwidth. This means that unless your site compromises the performance of the web server (which, by the way, probably won't happen), or the performance of our network - we don't care how much traffic you have. Your site should be successful.
Keep in mind that we don't allow Adult, mp3 download, or software download sites.
HIGH RESOURCE USER POLICY
Resources are defined as bandwidth and/or processor utilization.
121host may implement the following policy to its sole discretion:
When a website is found to be monopolising the resources available 121host reserves the right to suspend that site immediately. This policy is only implemented in extreme circumstances and is intended to prevent the misuse of our servers. Customers may be offered an option whereby 121host continues hosting the website for an additional fee.

Quoted from 121host Terms Page
That's for whoever asked about the unlimited poicy.
121host 11-23-2001, 03:06 PM iamdave and M@tt why don't you provide us with your url so we know that we are talking to two different people .....!
We are successful because we care about our customers and potential one as you have found out iamdave when we replied to almost 40 emails and in your last email you were willing to sign but we refused as we don't want someone like you to sell our services. We want people that care about their customers and you obviously don't know the meaning of it.
iamdave for your information we have over 300 happy customers not bad for a company started over a year ago.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 03:31 PM Im not trying to put you down. I like the services. If I did'nt like the service I wouldn't inquire about it over 40 times via email.
I do want to become a reseller but before I commit I want to find the right company. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I Like The 121host.net services.
All I want to know is how you guys were able to provide unlimited bandwidth and space.
M@tt isn't iamdave, provide us of way of proving we are not the same person.

I currently do not work for any company, I resigned from my position at reflexhost last week.
I most certainly am not iamdave, I do not know him, and this thread is the first that I have seen him post in.
All I requested were two IP's to ping, I have full confidence that you do care for your customers.
Regards
Matt
dendydan 11-23-2001, 03:57 PM iamdave i asked in an earlier post would you give the URL where 121host offer unlimited space and bandwidth. I have checked their site and can see attractive plans but I cannot see any reference to unlimited space and bandwidth. You are still claiming they make this offer.
Would you please supply the URL where they make this offer so we know you are not just being silly.
Thanks
By the way, I would rather my hosting company be run by techos and accountants than copywriters.

If the site ever did say unlimited blah blah blah, then it has been changed and my guess is that the TOS was overlooked and was not updated. I may be wrong, but if that's all it was, please inform them, and move on.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 04:10 PM Chicken You are correct.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 04:11 PM I've already made it clear that it seems as if they have taken the unlimted part out. But look in their TOS it still refers to the unlimited bandwidth and high resource using.

Chicken We did inform iamdave of our bandwidth and webspace in an email and never did we mention unlimited for him.
TOS will be updated on Monday.
iamdave 11-23-2001, 08:24 PM When i asked about the unlimited stuff you guys refused to answer, because it's impossible to allow unlimited bandwidth. And unlimited was posted on your site...or else I wouldn't inquire about it...

Dave I think that you made your point, as there is no need to belabor it. In the beginning of this thread, you had asked for the following
I am looking for a reseller plan that would provide the following:

People responded to your request about which companies they recommended, did you check any of them out? And if you know that it's impossible to offer clients unlimited bandwidth why would you even inquire about it? You are wasting your time with something this trivial, move on and find a host which can accomodate you and your clients.
iamdave 11-24-2001, 03:49 AM I agree! But then 121host jumped in and started a whole new discussion.
iamdave 11-25-2001, 04:00 AM Anyone have any suggestions for a good host with good reseller plans.
Besides mchost, vo, ecommercediscovery
