My apologies if this is not in the correct forum or if this has been discussed. I have tried searching, but did not specifically find anything about this.

After I set up DNS servers, how do I register them so that they can be used as primary and secondary name servers for domains. I have a dynamic IP, but I manage my domain at zoneedit.com. Basically, I want to put up DNS servers at home so I can host my domain, as well as host other people's domains and do their DNS, so all they have to do to setup their domains is use dns.mydomain.com as their nameservers.

Much thanks in advance.

U can get your registrar to register the nameservers u want. Normally for me I am using Opensrs/WebCC they have their own controlpanel to do that.

You might contact EV1 Servers - they should be able to help you.

I registered my domain at EV1 about a month ago. I have the nameservers there set up to zoneedit's nameservers because I have a dynamic IP and I can update my IP at zoneedit and have my IP change immediately. I am confused as to what EV1 could do for me? I don't want to register another domain, I want to register a DNS server with the current DNS scheme so that other DNS servers know to look at my DNS to resolve the domains of my "clients" (who are really my friends that I am going to host for free)

Ur registrar EV1 can advise or help u on the registration of your nameservers. U can then setup a nameserver using Bind etc on your system and have it running

Thanks. I didn't realize that EV1 would register nameservers.
