View Full Version : Need advice onto which fax I should purchase...

I'm about to purchase a fax machine for the office here, and maybe even one for personal use - however have no idea as to which one I should purchase.

I only know the following companies that make fax machines: Sagem (They also make the Philips fax machine), Brother and Panasonic. I am not sure if Medion make a fax machine, however I'm sure they do - but their site isn't working for me (It works - but the Medion Shop section times out).
So - Can anyone recommend a good fax machine?

I'd want the basic features of a fax machine (phone, fax, copier, answering machine) but I read on Panasonic that they have a fax which allows up to three phone numbers on the one telephone line and each number will have a different ring tone so you know when it's a fax and when it's a phone call. Another fax of theirs has a feature where you press *9 to take phone calls in Fax mode as well and I think it also rings differently when it's a fax and when it's a phone call so you know. What I want is something with the basic fax features, and also one mode - when it is a phone it rings like "this" while when it is a fax coming through is rings like "that" so I know whether to pick up the phone or not.

So really, any recommendations are much appreciated.

Thanks all. :)

PS: I cannot just "walk into" a place like Staples or whatever. I'm located in France, and would need to purchase either on-line or from a local large shop such as Darty, Conforama, Carrefour, etc. etc.

Hello,

go to http://www.epinions.com/Fax_Machines/submitted_form_~ultrafinder/ultrafinder_submitted_~+Go+/see_them_all_~1 and read the opinions of people on different fax machines.

I dont like brother faxes. My experiences with them have not been good.

Thanks you two for your comments.

I ended up purchasing a nice Philips Magic 3 Voice Fax/Phone/Copier/AnsweringMachine. Tried it out, and it works perfect.

Very happy. :)

Once again, thanks you two for your comments.

I have three Brother faxes which have been great, however I just recently purchased a Panasonic laser fax and it is easily the best I have ever used.

For future people who might see this thread, go with the Panasonic. You won't be disappointed.
