2,8 Miljoen pagevieuws a month
i have a
900 mhz
256 mb

and now it's slow..
i need to upgrade to

If it's just the one site your hosting then I think the following would do it:
Intel Pentium III 1000mhz
512MB RAM
20 or 40GB Hard Drive
One common mistake a lot of people make is if the site is slow they think it's the server when in fact 95% of the time it's the connection. You may need more bandwidth. Check with your ISP to see how much your using and how much more burstable bandwidth you can get.

No its 1 domain running on that server..
and last week the database crashed :(
and 6 weeks before the maxtor disk crashed :(
it's a realy big site.. and it's almost 100% database a lot of young people are on it ( in holland )
almererulez the meaning is like this:
Almere ( Almere city ) Rulez
almost all the people around amsterdam are on that site whit there story and picture and well its big.
will 1333mhz ( amd ) will be enough ?

I really do think Intel PIII 1000mhz will be enough. AMD is good is your a gamer or you want your PC to run fast. However for servers I always recommend Intel Pentium. Much more reliable. If you hard drive is crashing I suggest maybe switching to a 18GB SCSI. 512MB RAM should be loads. Even with almost 3 million hits that is still under 50GB a month probably. There is probably another problem here. Maybe in the configuration of your server.

A jump from 900 MHz to 1000 MHz will not be noticable in most cases. More RAM is the way to go - and a fast SCSI drive would help too.

the 900 should actually be fine for you, unless it's a celeron. definately upgrade the RAM to at least 1024, if not 2048, and look at getting some form of dual SCSI + RAID solution in there.
your harddrives would have faster read access times which is always good, you'd have some form of redundancy against harddrive crashes(depending on your RAID configuration), and hey, SCSI drives sound so much neater when they're spinning.
you should also look at performing some major tweaking to your apache & mysql config files.
i think they mean 3 million pageviews per month, not page hits? the lone site on my RAQ4i gets 4 million page hits per month moving around 40gb per month, and we're doing just fine with 512mb ram.

900 to 1000Mhz, or even 1300Mhz is not really worth the upgrade - you may want to consider going to a dual processer based system, and definately add more RAM. A SCSI HDD would also speed things up, especially in a RAID array.
