My oh my this is the second time that I have seen them with a stolen website.

Take a look @ http://www.siteturn.com who has been using this layout for several months.

then take a look at championhost.com who recently switched from another copied site.

This is wrong, and they should be stopped.

take a look @ what I found in championhosts source as well

This seems to be a big problem in the hosting industry.

Tell you what, let's call the number provided on his page and ask him about this thing. See how he's going to respond. This guy's name is Igor, I think.

called him once, acted like a customer, then sprung him, he whined for a few minutes how he doesnt know how to design and all that crap (this was because he stole our content)

i think its time to contact both the stolen site AND Igors backbone, this is getting pretty sad

Quill

You did call him? pretty cool.

Anyway, I've already emailed siteturn.com about this thing. I guess we'll get to see another stolen site pretty soon. :D

That is such a poor excuse! There are tons of webdesigners out there that you can pay to design you a neat website and even if you say you don't have much money, just on WHT there has been tons of templates sold for $20 or less.

I phoned Siteturn last night and informed them. Lets see what action is taken, and how long it takes for Igor to steal another site :)

I hope that they get sued this time. That's horrible.

Hosting for Fun ... and Profit
Over its three-year lifetime, Champion Host has grown from a small reseller to an up-and-comer with its own data center and customers around the world.

Owner Igor Amburg started reselling "just for fun in high school." While other teens baby-sat or burger-flipped for a few measly bucks an hour, he was hauling in decent dinero, signing on 100 customers in his first month alone. Business kept building, so he started moving up the hosting ladder. By the time he added dedicated hosting, Amburg had racked up more than 2,000 customers.

It's a rare customer today that even bothers to ask where his company is located, Amburg says. Not that it matters — as long as their sites stay up and running. Still, he's ready to pit the Chicago area against any other hosting locale.

For one, the region's got a great infrastructure for hosting, he says. It's also a major business hub, with all the amenities of big-city living. And while the climate's often lousy, it's free of the scary stuff a hosting company might encounter on the East or West coast. Hosts here might have to tolerate bone-numbing cold and/or endless gray for a good nine months of the year — but they don't lose much sleep over hurricanes, earthquakes or mudslides.

Even serious blizzards are rare. Only one plowed through the area this year, dumping a foot-plus of snow and creating minor hassles along the way. The area around Amburg's data center in northwest suburban Prospect Heights briefly lost power after the storm. But a backup generator — a must for hosts anywhere — kept his servers up and running without a hiccup.

Today, Champion Host — which also offers web design — employs about 15 people and continues to add between 200 and 300 new accounts every month.

While he doesn't target only local customers, Amburg says he's enjoyed operating in an area that offers a fat market for any host.

signing on 100 customers in his first month alone.

That's too much for the first month unless he is giving away a $1.50/mo account.

By the time he added dedicated hosting, Amburg had racked up more than 2,000 customers.

Why so late? Most resellers jump into a dedicated solution at 200 customers.

that was the most blatent rip-off i've ever seen ...

good hints for site stealers:

1. Pick a site to steal that has nothing to do with your target market ... if you are trying to sell hosting, and you rip another hosting companies site off ... and think you will get away with it wthout catching so much heat you'll have to take it down, you are WRONG ...

2. Pick a site to steal that isn't in English, that way there is less of a chance that your target market has seen the site that you are going to rip ... Asian sites are good tagets for this ...

1. Ripping is wrong and stupid and unethical and you know it! Do you have any idea how somebody might even have to spend money or lose sleep just to design and have a good and decent website?

2. I'm an Asian. I don't like your hints. Shame on you to even dare to suggest this kind of thing.

"Otherground" was joking, using irony to point out that the most common attempts at stealing site designs are foolish in that they are so likely to be found out.

It's not a joke, my friend. I bet he didn't even mean to post it as a joke. That's a real suggestion. :unhappy: Well, even if it's a joke, then it's not funny at all.

Some people simply have no sense of humor. I read that post, and it was clearly meant has a joke, and not to be taken seriously. If we didn't have humor, what would we really have left? Didn't the taliban ban humor?

Wow, how sad and pathetic this is. One can only wonder at the post that was removed for self-promotion (or maybe he copied that little gem into his post and claimed it was his  ). Of course, I've never been a big fan of whmag anyway. Do they not have any fact checking? His own data center? Surely they could have caught that big fish.

Hey, something that just came up. If he claims to offer web design services but whines about not being able to design things, where do those designs come from? Do they just rip off somebody else and hand it over as something they created when someone asks them to design a site?

Okay, fine, it's a joke. But it's not funny because as you said, I simply have no sense of humor ( at least, as you said, I'm one of those people ) Enough said. Let's change subject, shall we? :bomb:

Champion Host has a new design! But it is not very original. Check out the testimonials page (http://www.championhost.com/testimonials.htm). Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah: http://www.hostforce.com/testimonial.htm.

But maybe HostForce stole it from champion. Who knows.

UPDATE: The new design is stolen from evenhost.com! Check the source @ www.championhost.com. It says: "<meta name="description" content="Evenhost.com offers professional and affordable web hosting services at a low price">". Sad.

Wouldn't it be so much easier to just design something themselves and put it up? They wouldn't have to spend so much time redoing things when they get caught out. Of course, if they had half a brain they wouldn't steal other sites to start with, but that's another tangent. Hey, Champion, message for you to make your life simpler.

STOP STEALING OTHER SITES

Do you think that they have any customers? I mean if every time ou go to your host site you see a new one that is a sign of something not being right.

Darn. I wish I had thought to get screen shots of all of their versions. It would make for an interesting collage.

Someone should write an article and send it to whmag.
