Is there somewhere available, or a process by which you can find out what search terms an internet portal, such as google has listed for a particular site?
Bottom Line: Want to find out what terms google uses on my site, the keywords it shows up for in the directory.
Hope this made since.

The keywords for which your site is listed at Google and elsewhere are simply all of the terms or words that are included in the site's content, as well as possibly other terms that are on pages that link to yours.
So for the most part if words are on your site, Google will return your site in the listings for the words. Of course what matters then is how close to the top or how deep in the listings you will appear.

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but the way to find out what search terms people type and actually find your site with is to check your web stats.
For instance webalizer has a section titled search strings which shows what search terms people type and your site is ranked high enough for people to find you.
When google does its crawl it doesnt search for any terms in particular. It is up to you to decide what terms to optimize for.
