I'm a student major in MIS. But I'm addicted to John Grisham's, lost numerous of good sleep just to watch The Practice. Honestly, I think being a lawyer is the coolest job in the world. You earn big bucks :buck:, good in talking - out loud!!

And the best part? Nobody mess with lawyers! :D

You earn big bucks

The problem with the US ecomomy

Layers don't make money, they just take it from people who do...<insert some quote about shaking money around in a bag does not make more of it />

Hi DougBTX,

Nice to see you! How are you?

Well, what do you mean? Take money from their client or...?

I'd like you to back-up your statement and be a little more precise if you don't mind.

You really seem in a good mood today, DougBTX! :D

Not quite the right question you should be asking..my point is that kids are seeing who makes the money, and its not the people who work in the real world...it is people who profit from arguing over the finest points in law, written by the same group of people who are arguing about it...all seems a bit stupid: arguing over who is right and wrong, rather than finding soloutions to probems etc..I see the need for some, but the whole system sees to be set-up so that arguments can go on for years with the ply thing moving forwards is the lawer's bill...

Quill got it: lawering (?) is the "coolest" thing to do: no real work (shuffling papers?! come on!), and a big pay check...

What can I say  point proved...

I'm not interested in arguing about this, its simple maths...so post whatever you think if you reply, I won't keep it up for long :) better things to do :D

Later,
Dougals

:erm: So lawyers don't actually "work" or take part in this so-called "real world". What does that mean? Please, define "real world" for me.

all seems a bit stupid: arguing over who is right and wrong, rather than finding soloutions to probems etc..

How could you find a solution when someone is accused of something they didn't do but everyone thinks they did it? The only thing that can be done is for a lawyer to defend that person based on evidence and laws. People would be screwed without lawyers, and if you found yourself in front of the judge so would you.

The "whole system" takes time because we want to insure that the innocent go free and the guiltly go punished. The system may take an unreasonably long amount of time in some cases, but without it we'd be lost.

Being a lawyer (I'm not one) involves a ton of work. They must learn to be a good public speaking, they must know what they're talking about (laws, etc), they must defend their client if he/she decides to plead innocent, and they must engage in unending research (of laws, evidence, clients, etc). I very much doubt that you could handle the workload that lawyers must endure.

What can I say  point proved...

I'm afraid you didn't prove anything except the fact that you really don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, I think you are interested in arguing about this or else you wouldn't have made up all that jiberish you posted.

Yeah, I love Grisham too! I have only read a couple of his books though! Which book do you like the best? The Practice?
