Hi all,

I am currently using Rackspace to host my Win2000 server. Their uptime and services is great. But I am looking for some company which can offer cheaper monthly price and has more or less the same connectivity with Rackspace.

Currently they have the following connections:

Qwest
OC-12
OC-3

SBC
DS-3

Time Warner
DS-3

AT&T
OC-12

UUNet
OC-3

Can anyone reomannd a host which has similar connectivity? Thanks.

You won't find many hosts with that muchc onnectivity. But do YOU NEED all that? Wouldnt a host with less do?

Neutelligent.com has multiple connections OC12-OC3 with six carriers. Very personal service and great band with pricing.

http://www.voxel.net are pretty good, I have heard, and http://www.pwbtech.com have "over 20 diverse connections".

Voxel.net says that they will respond to a trouble ticket within 12 hours on their website. Wew that is hot service. You really should try NeuTelligent they have techs on staff 24 hours a day not on call but physicially on duty.

I don't know much about them, but you might look at www.rackmy.com. They supposedly specialize in win2000 servers.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Because I use the Win2000 server to do streaming media. So more connectivity means I can have more routes to send data to all over the world. Am I right? So this is important. I just don't want users say they can't view the movies in some countries. Just try to provide the best connection.

I checked all the sites and only pwebtech and rackmy has similar services with rackspace.

Anyway, I will still look and see more companies.

Yes and no. The data will still go everywhere even with one connection. You don't need multiple backbones to send data worldwide. However, having more connections often means the data will be sent over the fastest one, meaning the movies would load faster.

We came very close to getting a server w/ rackmy, but one thing led to another and we ended up getting another server with rackspace.

This is my .02, but if excellent uptime and network reliablilty are important to you, I suggest someone with a guarantee. Rackspace and rackmy both have one. We also have a server w/ pweb. I would say our best uptime comes from rackspace and dialtone.com (who, by the way, also offers Win2000 server options...I think for a little less than rackspace does.)

<edited> I just double checked and dialtone does actually offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee. </edited>

And even more attractively, diversity means less downtime. Although really only the tier-1 providers are attractive; connecting to the local phone monopoly isn't so great.
