Where I usually see it is in the get-rich schemes that never work on the internet. Like those late night infomercials:

Announcer: "Billions of dollars are sent through the internet every year! Now, get a peice of this action with our new turnkey internet sales program!"

Clueless lookin guy: "But how? Don't I need Massive Infrastructure to make money on the internet?"

Announcer: "NO! Just put this piece of software on your PC and view the video that we're going to send you, and money will roll in!"

Clueless lookin guy #2: "I made $250,000 last year with scamco's 'make money fast' program on the internet! The best part is that I do it part time, from home, with no prior knowledge necessary!"

Clueless lookin lady: " I made $350,000 last year from home, which gives me the means to stay at home and raise my children! Thanks scamco!"

Anyway, that's what I think of. YMMV.

It means that everything is automatic. You just "turn a key" and it's all there automatically. Effortless, basically.

turnkey means that there is no extra work needed in order for the thing - what ever it be - to be put in its full functional use...

if you ordered a house like that, it would mean, it would be completely built, there would be all the furniture and appliances, the only thing missing would be you...

Dictionary definition of Turnkey = built, supplied, or installed complete and ready to operate.

In relation to a "turnkey business", it means that everything has been thought out, the designs were designed, the details have been organized, the backend is set up, and the order systems is in place. All you need to do is open the shop and let the customers in.

A franchise is very close to this. Say you wanted to open a resturant, you can create one from scratch and figure out everything from concept to implementation on the fly or you can buy a McDonalds and have the whole process laid out for you.

Closest relation to hosting, with regards to turnkey:
H-SPHERE

And no, it's not a scam :stickout:

Most turnkey programs are though.

Hmm, i wouldn't put a franchise in that category.

One of my close friends owns 3 subway's in Nova Scotia, and trust me, they are anything but turnkey. About all the help he got was the sign.
