I did a search here, several other sites, and Google but I don't think I'm using the proper term to search for.

I would like to develop a couple of small apps for Windows Active Desktop. Basic functions really, such as pinging a specific IP to show status.

Can anyone point me in a good direction to read up on this?

Windows Active Desktop is just a HTML file running as a wallpaper, and I think since the end of Windows 98, not many people use it.
