While trying to log into my hotmail account I just recieved this error:

Account Temporarily Unavailable


We apologize, but your account is temporarily unavailable. This delay does not affect the entire site or result from any problem specific with your account however the server that holds your account information is temporarily unavailable. We do not expect this delay to last much longer, so please continue to check our site for your account status.

It happened to me a couple of years ago. I actually emailed support and they were very helpful which I was suprised with it being a free email account I used to use.

probably one of their raids failing.

what is worse when they refuse to even let you to TRY to sign in with your username...because some scriptkiddie keeps brute-forcing till hotmail stops the log-ins---from kiddie and from you.

Like said above ... happens all the time.

Even configuring hotmail account in outlook you will get 'not found' message every once in a while.

I've also had this problem, back in the day when i used my hotmail account. Now it just serves as a place to collect Junk and the odd email from Hotmail Staff (Annoying!)

This usually occurs when they are doing server maintanence and upgrades. Kinda hard to keep a server up when doing upgrades to the O/S or other major changes.

These usually clear up within a few hours. Longest down time I ever seen from Hotmail in the years I have used it is maybe 4 hours.
