View Full Version : Domain Registrar w/ Web DNS

What I'm looking for is a reliable, professional registrar who offers low cost domain registration that includes web managed DNS service such like ZoneEdit offers.

I'm currently paying ~$15/year through a Tucows affiliate for my domains but I will soon pass the limit of 5 free domains on ZoneEdit. When you add another $10/year for DNS per domain, the total cost becomes ~$25/year per domain.

My obvious target figure would be a registrar (preferably Tucows affiliate, I'm spoiled by the web interface) that would charge ~$20 or less/year per domain including web managed DNS.

I realize I might be aksing too much, but... just in case, I'm asking for some pointers.

I guess I should add that I'm looking at mydomain.com. They seem to have what I'm looking for but:

1) They don't show a demo of the interface for managing DNS
2) They've been bought by namezero and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
3) They haven't responded to my presales question in over 24 hours.

Does anyone have any specific thought about mydomain.com?

Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions. As I look through GoDaddy's site, I see no reference to DNS service. Similarly, Stargate only mentions DNS in their help section. Neither offer a demo or give details about how flexible the tool is.

Can anyone attest to the useability and reliability of these registrars, especially how usefull the DNS management is? How do they compare to ZoneEdit?

Hi,

Try 123domainregistry.com - an Indian reseller of enom.

I can register a domain with them for < 9.00$ with 4 nameservers and web based DNS. If you register for 2 years you get free emails etc.

The interface is really good - but have no idea if they accept intl credit cards

Also dabot.com

Thanks for all your input. I think I've come to the conclusion that ZoneEdit is the best way to continue to manage my DNS. For $10/year/domain (after 5 free) it's really the best deal, especially considering their interface.

What I need to do is just register my domains with a cheaper Tucows reseller. This will meet my goal ~$20/year/domain for registry and DNS.

Thanks again for your input!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have several domains with http://stargateinc.com and their API is quite good. They have free DNS, 1 e-mail, domain forwarding and parking services - all included in the registration price.

If you are interested in DNS: you can have 4 A-record or MX records, all settings accessible trough web. No c-name, etc.

I beleive their 8$ against 20$ per domain you are paying now may be worth a try...?

You could also take a look at http://everydns.net - I beleive the guy that runs it is a member of WHT too...

edited to add: I checked up in the API, you can have 4 different DNS records with Stargate - either 4x A-record or 3x A-record and 1 MX (but no more than *1* MX record...).
