Locutus 11-19-2001, 07:32 PM Is anyone here a Harry Potter fan? Have you ever heard of the company Diagonsoft.com?
If so, what do you know about them? Who are they? What do they do? Are they popular?

I must have missed the Hogwarts express...what does Diagonsoft have to do with Harry Potter?

I'm not -- never read any of the books, nor seen the movie -- but I did eat lunch at Hogwarts a few days ago. Unfortunately they took away all the magic when they finished filming.

Locutus 11-20-2001, 09:20 PM Thanks guys, looks like no one's heard of them.
Reason I was asking is because they submitted a sponsorship request, but I've never heard of them before coz I'm not a Harry Potter fan :D Just wondering if anyone else had heard of them.
Ah well, time to look for other sites to sponsor ;)
JustinK 11-20-2001, 09:45 PM The movie was not cr**! It was well directed, well acted, and one of the best movies I have seen that was in that ratings Category.

hell no! HP was a great movie with amazing camera work, special effects, costumes, sets, acting, etc!
go HP!
my only problem is the poster, it looks like HP is trying to come one to you...

Can you teach me to fly?
netsolutions 11-21-2001, 04:23 AM If I hear one more thing about stupid Harry Potter I think I'm going to freak. IT''S A DAMN KIDS MOVIE!!!!
JustinK 11-21-2001, 04:51 AM Good thing this is a message board. You can't hear a thing. Well unless you installed one of those text to voice programs. :D It's a "Family" movie. Better hearing about a good kids movie than a cr***y adult's movie (ie: Dude, Where my Car? (and the plot to this movie?)).
kaskus 11-21-2001, 05:33 AM I think Diagonsoft.com need cheap way to promote their site.
And I dont think Diagonsoft.com had any connection with harry potter...

Me, the missus and our two eldest have read the books and were all looking forward to the film - was a major disapointment.
Dunno what acting you saw but the film I saw the kids acting was awful ( the adults were ok ).
Hagrid's supposed to be 12 foot tall, so they just get a 6 1/2 foot Robbie Coltrane and stick big boots on him ! ( that's cheap and nasty ).
Some of the computer effects were awful ( bits on the broomsticks looked like they'd deliberately made computer models of the old dummies, complete with limbs bending in the wrong direction, they used to use for special effects in the '50s ) - though other bits were well done.
I'm a fan of the books but the film really was pants - they made it 'safe' thay made it ( by the look of it ) 'cheap' and it showed. At the end of the day they knew they had a cash cow so just pushed something unbelievably average out the door to cash in just in time for Xmas.
IMHO they should have made it all SGI like Shrek ( that IS a class film ) then they would have had the freedom to do things properly.
I've read the books, liked them well enough, although you can give me C.S. Lewis or Roald Dahl anytime. The movie was...okay. A "B" rating. The problem with the movie is that they couldn't possibly put everything in the books. It was long enough as it is. Because of that, it was missing alot of the little things of the books that made it enjoyable. The little jokes, and life at school...in the movie you couldn't tell that the entire school turned against Potter. In addition they cut out a few scenes, a big one at the very end. And they took out the toilet seat joke. Boo. In addition they would abruptly switch from scene to scene.
Acting-wise, I think they made a bad choice with the actor chosen to play Potter. He was virtually expressionless throughout the whole movie.
Hagrid: Your parents were killed by You-Know-Who
Harry: ::blank::
Not the best movie, not the worst. It was rushed, it felt rushed.

Flying is easy. It's the landing part that's hard :).

JustinK 11-21-2001, 04:10 PM I probably liked it better since I didn't read the book. Same for jurassic park, a lot of people that read the book seemed let down. I figure if I wait for the book to become a movie the movie will be more of a thrill and then I'll get better-than-dvd-extras out of reading the book. :) Everyone views things a bit differently.
I think with flying, you have to climb up a tree, jump, and miss the ground. Try it and tell me what your results are :D
