Anyone else using Bigmailbox.com for their email services? If so, have you noticed the increasing amount of spam from them?

BC 10-21-2000, 11:55 PM Although I don't use BMB, there has been recent complaints (around here and at other forums) about the increasing amount of spam owners and users alike have had to cope with. So you ain't alone... Chestnut 10-22-2000, 09:48 AM This is the message which Bigmailbox appended to the end of my outgoing email in an account provided by it: "------------------------------------------------------------ PS: You should check ou this great new site that I found. They've got free movies, music, email. It's really great! http://www.netbroadcaster.com " I consider this to be unacceptable as it abuses my credibility. Although there were some adverse comments about everyone.net in this forum, I find it to be a better choice. Racin' Rob 10-22-2000, 10:08 AM Speaking of Spam.... Where can I find a list of known spamming domains that I should block on my server? I remember seeing one a few yesars ago, but forget where it was. TIA JimDonahew 10-22-2000, 10:31 AM At BMB they check your site, they don't allow "under construction" sites, etc. Everyone is way better. Super fast setup. High customization. "Do it all yourself" at everyone. That's good. Only 1 top banner on the webmail section. Excellent control pannel. And it's very easy to setup your own webmail at @domain.com just modify DNS MX. Chicken 10-22-2000, 11:02 AM I agree. I checked both and skipped on bigmailbox. I was trying to decide between everyone and bn3, and bn3 made up my mind on that one... jrichrds 10-22-2000, 11:15 AM How about outblaze (outblaze.com) or their Real-Time Instant Portal (i-p.com)? They look pretty good. They're not brought up much in outsourced e-mail discussion though, so I'm wondering why more people aren't with them. I plan to try them in the future. JustinK 10-22-2000, 05:17 PM They look good, but they don't have any examples up. Not very informative of customization allowances either. The i-p.com seems to be the only option due to the main outblaze place requiring a certain amount of page view before you make revenue (and if you don't have 5001 users you have to pay for the calendar & greeting card services). I don't like how they keep using 'co-own' either... "Also, our Co-brand Partners will have to pay for the Calendar and Greeting Card services until they reach 5001 users." To me, sorting through all that is just a pain when with everyone.net, you look, you signup, you change mx records, your done(unless you design to go design crazy). Chicken 10-22-2000, 06:35 PM -annnnnnnd that's why I skipped outblaze :) BC 10-22-2000, 07:08 PM I have an *old* e-mail account through one of Outblaze's co-branded partners. If you sign up for an account at http://www.graffiti.net you'll see how the e-mail interface is. It's actually a bit different and fairly funky, but you do need to have high traffic to be able to get most services for free through i-p.com. jrichrds 10-22-2000, 10:14 PM As I understand it, i-p.com is always free, while Outblaze you qualify for once you have over 100,000 pageviews per month, and then you get to co-brand with them and share in 50% of the advertising revenue. With i-p.com, they also say you have a chance to earn revenue through advertising but they never really say anything about whether they'll be putting their own banner ads over your site. Anyways, I would've skipped over them for everyone.net if not for Outblaze's Asian language support (for those with sites in which a decent amount of the visitors are from Asia) and the problems everyone.net was having at the time. But I agree that they're vague with their requirements and that it's a pain to figure it all out. But if anyone out there has successfully created an e-mail service through Outblaze, I'd like to hear what you think of them. :) |
