Ok, I signed up with aletia hosting about 3 weeks ago, and I absolutely LOVE their service so far. The problem is, My plan is for $8/month with 10GB of traffic per month. It seems as though Im gonna go over that. I will probbaly hit about 11-12 GBs per month. Now, since I dont have too much money to spend on over-usage costs, would it be a good idea to move my phpBB to tera-byte right now? They have a plan for $9.25/month with 20GB of traffic. This seems like it would be logical for me to do. What ya think? :(

I would talk to my current host first and explain my situation and proposed remedy.
They may offer to match the other plan you're looking at and save you the move. ;)

Would they really do that? Are hosts known to do this?

I wouldn't wait for them to offer.
But, I wouldn't hesitate to ask.
You have nothing to lose by asking.

Thank you for the PM :) Welp, I asked them and they didnt go for it, so it looks like im gonna have to move.
I heard some bad things about tera-byte, are these true? Do they really inflate your bandwidth usage? I dont wanna move my board AGAIN and then find out that it even exceeds their 20GB bandwidth limit. This will be the 3rd move for my board in less than 2 months, I just wanna be done with all this! :(

If Aletia is offering you 10 GB for $8/mo, it would most likely mean that they're playing the bandwidth game and they're losing money on your account since you're using your full account bandwidth. Now if that is the case, it would be unlikely that they would offer you more bandwidth for free.

Well, has anyone had a problem with tera-byte? Is it a good place to move my board to?

I heard a while back that alot of people were having problems with their bandwidth numbers being greatly inflated. Is this still a problem with them? I have to move my php board because I go over the transfer limit now, so I dont wanna move it and then find out that I go over the limit there too. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! :(

Although I don't have an account with TB I know quite a few people who do and no-one has ever mentioned any problems least of all bandwidth inflation. Seeing as they practically give bandwidth away at Spaceports I don't see why they would either.

There was one user (maybe two) who had problems with something (possibly the windows virus) attacking his site causing some bandwidth problems, though I'm not sure they ever really got to the bottom of that one.
Other than that, the other thing was that they bill based on MRTG numbers *not* what you see in the cp, which wasn't entirely accurate (RaQs). I doubt this is still an issue as they don't use RaQs to serve anymore (far as I know).
