nice, and I really like the rollover effects on the text, very simple, nice work.

On the other end, I'm not crazy about the choice of colors, but since that's a personal opinion, don't let it demine your work, overall I really like it

Looks good. I like the color scheme. You could move the Categories box below the Main Menu though. That would make it easeir to find :) Well, other then that, the site is well made, its fast, and a simple layout. I would give it 4 on a scale of 5 :)

Well MySQL is always quick at it :)
But it largely depends on how many queries your program is making to get one page. Also, the speed of MySQL throwing up results also depends on how many people are visiting the site at once. So I would cut down the number of queries made by the program to make one page to the minimum.!

The text seems really small to me. I can barely read it.

Especially in the left nav area

can i ask what resolution you are viewing in? and if you have your fonts set to small..

Ok this thread is kinda dead but I thought I'd post something. Mainly due to the fact you're using <backend>. I looked at using that script myself a while ago and have spent some time looking at their site (and demo). What you've done with it is great!! I knew it was a portal script as soon as I saw it, but unless you'd left the mention at the bottom I would never have known... The improvement to the design are wonderful and you've made a good basic script into something that's really fantastic - enough I may take another look at it for a domain of mine :)

About the only suggestion I can amke is the webmaster news. As it seems to be the same on each page, maybe placing it under the rest of the content might make navigation easier. Scrolling past the same content to get to the good stuff is always a bit of a turn-off.

In all though it's gets some serious thumbs up :)

Well, thanks for all the good comments :] much appreciated, i have had several people suggest putting the webmaster news under the main site news..so i think i will do it.

As for back-end, yeah its a wicked script. It took some setting up to get it like it is now, but once it is in, its a real time saver.

This is good, clean work, JohnnyL. Nice job.

The top inch or so of the site looks so nice and 3-D, very well done. Though it does make the rest of the site look a bit flat. I also wonder about the top part's "Scripts" and "All" logo color (blue) and it coming close, yet not matching the blue in the tables. Generally I like it to either match or NOT match, but I think it is a bit too close either way. Could use another color (complementary color to the cyan, though I'm not sure cyan has a complementary color?). Cyan isn't my favorite choice either, but that's personal.

("Next time.... it's personal..."). Tangent? You bet.
