Hello All, :homer:

I am getting ready to launch a new web-hosting and design company and would like to get advice from you,

currently I am looking at buying and co-locating a server here in Dallas, the specs

Dual PIII 1GHz cpus
1GB Ram
Dual 36 GB SCSI set up for RAID mirroring
RedHat OS

initially will have a dedicated 0.5 Mbs connection, will grow to 1, 1.5Mbs as needed

Most likely Plesk for the control panel but am considering Ensim

for credit card processing and bookkeeping I will probably go with Ubersmith coupled with Authorize.net and Merchant Express

I hope to host upwards of 200 commercial e-comm domains,.

is that possible, or would I only expect to get 50-60 etc..

any and all advice appreciated,.

In addition, I would like to offer a low cost shopping cart as well as other "tools" to my customers, but MIVA at $500 per lic is just to expensive,.. I notice alot of companies offer MIVA etc.. for low or no cost, how do they do that? do they buy a "bulk" of licences? or are they have reseller or partner agreements with MIVA

Also, how important is it to offer ASP support, I am debating whether to get Sun's Chiliware for my server, any suggestions

lastly, how do you set up a server to offer frontpage extensions and how important is that?

I know that you all think that I just fell of the turnip wagon, but any and all advice would be appreciated,

Thank you all very much,

take Care

John
