I get the sense from a number of hosts that they would rather not deal with Cold Fusion.
What's wrong with CF?
Thanks

If the cost came down we would not have a problem using it. Cheers Marty:D NetXL 11-19-2001, 01:41 AM Hey, I program CF, and i've noticed a heap don't support it too. I'm pretty sure it's just the cost of the software, it's like $1,295 to $4,000 and something. Which compared to PHP and ASP, looks quite ugly. jic 11-19-2001, 01:56 AM Price is the #1 factor (as posted above). The prices listed above are also PER SERVER. It is not worth it for the hosting company unless you have a huge demand. bitserve 11-19-2001, 12:39 PM If you are familiar with Cold Fusion, you'll quickly realize that it's not really something that works well on shared hosting. It's more something for a dedicated server. That's probably why most places don't offer it. If we offered dedicated servers we would offer it, but of course we would charge you for the license. carter 12-03-2001, 09:00 PM I am purely reiterating what has been posted beforehand, but the cost of a 1CPU license for CF is not worth it unless there is a significant cost benefit from the running of the dedicated server. Typically it is not wise to be running CF for virtual hosted sites. Love your work there Marts - a wordsmith indeed. Cheers, Carter |
