What is a good philosphy to follow while reselling?

I'd assume treating your customers as you yourself would like to be treated.

Added to the above.

Don't go for the fast buck or the easy solution _just_ because they're fast or easy. Just because a thing can be done, doesn't mean that it should.

What would be a good way to attack the hosting market?

Use your uniqueness to grow. A small company often has more time for personal one on ones with there clients. By doing this there is a good chance of successful growth for the future.

I think you might be looking for a business plan rather than a philosophy.

Although a business plan can reflect a certain philosophy...

True...but while I can offer some business philosophies, I can't really offer anyone else a business plan, especially another microbusiness. It should be in line with the individuals' personal, professional, and financial goals. It's the ultimate "where do you see yourself in five years?" question.

Figure out where you want to be in five years. Then go talk with a business advisor to figure out how to achieve it.

If you're looking for hosting-specific plans of attack, you need to do some market research - real market research, not just polling the users at one or more web hosting forums.

A business is like any project. The more you're able to plan things out before you take action, the better a chance you stand of long-term survival and success.
