hi all, maybe someone can answer me a question. I have a good friend who has her domain name with a host, i know by whois she registered it with them may of last year, well its expiring may of this year and i see its not registred in her name but the hosts, which i know is weird becuase all mine are registered with my name not my hosts. and it says the domain satus is locked?? can anyone tell me what that means because she wants to renew the domain, in her name and possibly find hosting somewhere else.

Locked --> means the domain can't be transfered to another registrar
Hence the doamin is not not under her name then you must contact her host ( no other way )

Aslo advice her to try to move here domain away , don't ever register a domain with a company that doesn't give you the ownership of your doamin

You don't mention what registrar it is, your friend may be unlucky and be tied into a registrar that ignores all requests i.e Totalnic

Don't mention the actual domain name but do post who the registrar is and somebody on here will be able to give feedback on them and any pitfalls you are likely to come up against.
