View Full Version : Is this possible? Separating helpdesk from rest of site?

Right now I have a reseller account through reseller A.
the main site (www.example.net) is hosted on the reseller account as well as the helpdesk page.

I wanted to move these two sites off the reseller account and into another account. I'm thinking of purchasing an account through another provider (cheaper) to host these two sites, in case the main reseller account's server goes down.

So, right now clients point their domain to ns1.example.net ns2.example.net. These custom nameservers point to my reseller's IP address. Can I then have www.example.net hosted on another account with a different provider even though the custom nameservers are pointed to a different provider?

Yes. The nameservers using the same doamin name have no bearing at all on the domainname itself is hosted. We don't you create more DNS's or just point the records wherever you want them.

I forgot to include that in my message. Yea, I'll just create ns5 and ns4 or something and point it to the other ip

I agree with cPanelSubs, as in, you do not even have to do new name servers. Use the same ones, but set the DNS info correctly, or use the ones form your new provider maybe...

GL and HTH :)
