View Full Version : Mailman hosting
DaveC# 11-18-2001, 07:51 AM Can anyone recommend mailman hosting?
I need a host that will do the following
Host the mailman product
Provide web archives
Run the service as a subdomain of my existing domain lists.mydomain.com
I already have a dedicated server with DI but I am running at full capacity on it so I want to delegate this service to a new provider.
Suggestions please.
WildWayz 11-19-2001, 07:45 AM Actually, anyone who uses Cpanel has MailMan installed - it is the mailing list manager that comes with it.
Only trouble with MailMan is that sometimes a digest can get 'stuck' and spam the digest users every second until it is spotted.

In that case you should probably be prepared to pay at least $100 or more per month. The most affordable solution I can think of is to get a server from Rackshack, and install Mailman yourself on it.

How the f*ck is that what I asked for read the f*cking page please.
You said you didn't want a virtual account with Mailman, rather a dedicated service, so I assumed you meant a dedicated server. I'm a little confused though: if you don't want a virtual account, nor a dedicated server, what DO you want? ;)

JustinK 01-02-2002, 02:19 PM He wants to outsource his mailman program, but do it through his subdomain, just not his server. Calm down on the use of that F there. :D I don't know any dedicated mailman services unfortunately, maybe it's time you started one up?

WildWayz 01-02-2002, 03:14 PM I don't think u can do what u want... ie having a subdir on a different server than the main domain name.
I tried it once, and it failed for me :/

we have it working just like that, in fact it's the only way we got mailman to work with virtual hosting - so we set up an 'A' record in DNS for 'lists' and then set up the mailman list for 'lists.domain.com' you don't need to add a virtual host directive but you do need to add the sub-domain to the mailserver on the server where the list is
