Dana:

You need to open a ticket with them.

Once a name server is registered with an IP address, the only way it can be changed (via register.com, assuming that register.com is the registrar of that nameserver) is by having a tech go into the record and manually changing it.

Register.com does not have a form or user panel like networksolutions. It will be a hassle, but it can be done. I had to do it and it took about 2 weeks before they finally figured out what I wanted to do. You are in for a treat! Happy Halloween!

Try giving them a call. I had to do the same thing, I messed with them for three days by email and never got anywhere. Then I called and they made the changes while I was on the phone.

there is no way register.com can't accept any nameservers unless the name servers are wrong or not registered

Can someone explain to me the reason behind this? Why would they not have the IP field available?

It is very frustrating for a host to have clients be in this situation and can not do anything about it.

This is very common amongst registrars - if you take a look around at some of them, you'll discover this to be the case. Even BulkRegister does not have IP fields available unless you are creating nameservers for your domain name. And even then, after creating them, you still have to go back and modify the domain record - which does not have a spot for nameserver IPs, only names. NetSol is by far the best about this particular issue.

Good luck getting anything done on Saturday. They only have one person answering the phone and no one on email. Be prepared to call several times.
