View Full Version : How long to get picked up by the Search Engines?
Tanuk 04-25-2004, 09:39 PM Does anybody know how long it approximately takes for a new website to get picked up by the various search engines?
I don't mean top rankings or high rankings, just how long it takes to actually get picked up by them.
Thanks
Lubby 04-25-2004, 09:50 PM supposedly it depends if you did it manually or used a program....from what I have heard you can expect a month and a half a lot fo times, or longer...
CrazyTech 04-25-2004, 10:12 PM The time varies from website to website. I've had some sites that have taken around a month, and others that have taken around 1-2 weeks. It just depends on how much you do, and a little bit of luck. To speed up the process just a bit, make sure to go around where you can and submit your URL.
peilo 04-25-2004, 10:12 PM 2 weeks but depending on how you do it like the other post stated and where you do it plus meta tags and keywords have to be done right.
As far as where your indexed is another story and I belive theres a conspiracy behind it unless you have high page ranking and unique keywords that people will search, they wouldnt find you high in the engines unless they searched your domain specificly or matched another keyword you may be using that hasnt been already bought for $5.00 a damn click thru the word web hosting is one of the most clicked on and searched for keywords if I remeber overtures website correctly. If you look for me in a serach for webhost you probably wouldnt find me unless matching unique keywords of mine specificly but im indexed pretty well, but my new domain is 2 months old today if that tells you anything.
Project X 04-25-2004, 10:15 PM woah, i must be lucky then
tanfwc 04-25-2004, 10:22 PM i got my site listed in the search engine within 1 month...i did not submit any URL...
HQHost 04-26-2004, 05:38 AM Place some strong incoming links on your site - and you won't need to submit URL manually. Time of indexing and appearance in SERPs of new sites differs from site to site - but usually it takes about 1 month ;)
hostCUBIX 04-26-2004, 05:39 AM my website took me around 7 days to get into google, should be around 7-14 days i think
top10web 04-26-2004, 05:50 AM I recommend you to read various post from http://www.webmasterworld.com
Tanuk 04-26-2004, 06:13 AM Thanks guys for the feedback
Does anybody know if it is better to submit your site manually or by a program?
There are so many things written about what *to do* and what *not to do * so that you don't damage your chances of getting listed.

my site got indexed within a month. i submitted manually to google and i submitted to yahoo! (not the directory) and my sites show up on both.
peilo 04-26-2004, 09:36 AM heres more info http://forums.seochat.com/
dawhb 04-26-2004, 04:41 PM You could be indexed within no more than a month but if you want to be listed it takes up to 6 months.

mazsola 04-26-2004, 04:55 PM It really depends on how many registered sites are pointing to your new sites. The higher the PR of these sites linking to you the better.
Also, don't forget to be patient. It takes time.
Then again, you could always pay for a higher ranking... see overture.com
kkbbzzaa 04-26-2004, 11:40 PM Does anybody know if it is better to submit your site manually or by a program?
I was told that letting google find you is better (maybe a wrong advice). Just get a link form a site that is indexed in G and Googlebot will find you and index you in a couple of weeks.
Don't submit to Yahoo! yet is useless. They are making big changes, so they are not accepting new sites.
k2host 04-28-2004, 12:35 AM Very easy answer, get linked to by a high PR site (PR5+) and your site will show up on the search engines within 48 hours sometimes.. I recently had a site show up in less then 24 hours.
