I'm locked out of a Compaq 5226a switch.

Anyone know how to reset the management console? I've looked for a while with no result :(

Compaq support says...
It is not possible to reset the unit to default without the password.
One option would be to use snmp to reset the unit, if you know previous configuration.

Default settings
9600 8n1
flow control off

type vt100 to enter the management from the serial console. It does not echo your key strokes (odd, confusing, heh) Default password is public

Hopefully this saves someone a headache. This unit is quite old, don't expect to find much else.

**edit- Also, I used a serial cable from a APC unit to connect. I'm not sure of the pattern, think its straight through.
