You shoul contact the party that you recieved the Cpanel from, they would be the ones who can help you out in this mannor. Their could have been a mistake while updating licenses....

Somewhat related cpanel question.

I have error messages when attempting to change my default mail settings. My host changed the default for me, but says they need my user name and password to fix the problem. When I questioned them about having them on file, I got a short, snippy message that they wouldn't have asked if they didn't need it.

Is this typical? Why wouldn't my host be able to either access account information, or have permissions set to be able to do the appropriate trouble shooting? I admit to being a little peeved about the attitude I got, but can accept it if I really did something that should have irritated them.

Was the host asking for your root pw? That might be understandable, since you probably changed it from the default using WHM... They would need this to be able to gain root access to your server.

What I would have a problem with is the response you received from them- they certainly should not have phrased it like that... If that is the typical response you receive from that host, I might consider moving elsewhere. If it is unusual to receive that type of response, however, that particular tech might have been having a bad day. I'd take the issue up with that host's administration, and see what they say about it. But in short, to answer your original question: If you changed the root password, then yes, you would need to send them your new one (unless they created a backdoor giving them root access, which in this case it sounds like they didn't do).
